I think you should stay away from attacking others at this time.
If you are having this much trouble navigating the various areas, you should concentrate on player missions and learning to cover your tracks.
Attacking without knowledge of the game will just get you grief. Attacking with knowledge of the game can get you the same grief, but at least you will know why and what happened.
