Filter processes and select processes by type doesn't work for active virii.  Hopefully this is a bug but if it's not I suggest changing it  13

Adware may become more used since the higher advare version requires research of higher adware anti-virus, reducing the number of competitive disinfectors as opposed to the low version file share AV that will be provided by the secret servers and will not require as much research.

So the spawning of new files on secret servers will be slowed? Because this round at the beginning it was useless to research some software - in the time you researched to some version - double that was put on secrets ...

virii AV were the most active and if you look at files right now - noone was researching those ...

i'm still waiting for the files on unlisted servers to start spawning, we was offered a choice of complete our mission or download some juicy software instead - all unlisted servers so far have contained just 3 files - none of which i would consider juicy.

Ooo, that could be interesting I hope it gets implemented...

The only person I can think of that EoD hunted the crap out of was JeffGreenThumb.

you = /fail

I think I will let the guessing game running for a bit more...

Strange I don't know too many people who are new to a game to act in quite this manner....I am still sticking by my alias theory and don't give a crap if you agree or not.

Nope, not an alias. Somebody has been posting at a forum, on private sections for the staff, all the info he had of the R1, with strategies, plans and extended gameplay explainings. Then I took them. I am a little bit leecher, however I do not like to be one of them.

I have been laughing a little bit.

Sorry, but I could not resist to.

Well a lot has changed since R1, so a bunch of that information will be useless I think  laugh

Woot, finally!

Heh, two people working to stop rev won't do any better than one really, since you can't kill the disinfect anyway, and I think Gin has the hardware to run all the disinfects by himself at this point and is running more than enough faction missions to have the AP.

I personally am just waiting for the round to end.  I'm running some faction missions but it's just not worth it to me knowing that it's all gonna be reset soon anyway.  The .6 rev's are stoppable, the .1's laughable, but the 2.5 rev's are going to be impossible to kill once more people get them going, and it's not like they're gonna get deleted or anything.

The end of the round is inevitable, and none of this stuff is going to even really make a difference until the round ends.  I'm actually really looking forward to the next round.

I have finals next week, which means I will actually have a lot of free time.  As such, I personally want the round to end so I can have some free time at the start of my round to get into it (last round started in a really busy time for me)

But if you guys want to prolong it then be my guest, but what good are you really doing?  Most of the bugs are probably not going to be found right now anyway as tactics are going to be changing next round and that's probably where the new bugs are going to come from.
66  HP Info Terminal / News & Updates / Re: Abilities list on: April 29, 2009, 10:41:01 PM
Another thing that you seem to have forgotten was a tactic that SGP came up with in R1 before we started doing the farms.  And as the abilities are set that means an exponential increase in income especially with how AP efficient it is.  That combined with the faction missions will allow those who know the tactics, which many do and it can be found on these forums since we made it public, will allow an unfair advantage to those who are informed.

I'm not sure what tactic you talking about ? But if it's the tactic where you start a desinfect task right after installing a virus and then try find the corresponding desinfect mission, then I'm not sure if it will be garanteed to succeed again.

And one other thing: if I understood correctly then we will soon have a bigger variety of faction mission. Maybe other factions specialities will give an advantage on those.

Good job.  Some actually paid attention to R1.   Now can you recall which style is most efficient on the AP?

Yeah, that could be a problem.  Obviously you would hit a wall with AP usage for infection/disinfection, but faction missions will allow you to regain AP faster and therefore complete more...

Lol.  Does it really matter at all if you tell people who your friend is?  EoD is dead and gone...
68  General Category / Hi. My name is... / Re: Hi! Eledran has arrived. on: April 29, 2009, 04:26:53 PM
also remember that more people you invite into your group the more people who have the ability to stab you in the back.

Yeahp.

Actually the main reason why there aren't a lot of groups (I think) is that it's not game supported in some manner.  So mostly you work alone until you find people.

SI and EoD are gone, their leadership quit playing at the end of round 1 or beginning of round 2.  SGP was disbanded by ebolla after round 1 when most of the founding members quit or had already quit.

TNW was ours, but most of the founders (besides me and Dama) either quit or went inactive.

According to my friend, he has just told me EoD disbanded as their co-leader quit the game without even some (public/private) goodbye words, their website went inactive and deleted by the hoster, among with all the forum, containing their threads, ideas, plans, coordination,... and then the leader did not reactivated it, at the first weeks of round 2.

SGP was disbanded, according to some internal members as they stayed on the forums becase of some no polite actions from HJ, at round 1.

I have not found so much yet around SI, but it appears the bad standings of his leader (HJ) with all the comunity (making it general, I guess he would have some great standings and relationships) make SI to a fail.

BTW, my friend does not want to being known, but he had to quit the game after he started to being hunted down by EoD when he tried to get software from Human on a "authorised" transfer. He got the v10 (something) my friend had and then he nuked my friend.

Does anyone smell what I smell??

Is it cookies?  I like cookies.  dribble

But seriously, who's your friend Eledran, it's not like he's playing anymore so it won't matter.

The problem though is that Icarus can get their faction missions done faster and therefore end up with higher standing, more points, and therefore better abilities.

I think that's what ebolla is saying, anyway.

I agree, slightly, and venture a question.

Why is decryptor runtime less expensive (in point cost) than Anti-spyware?  1 point cost vs 3 point cost.  I know spyware is going to be big and bad in the next round with the focus on secret server farms again, but that seems like a large difference considering you still only get the 1% increase on anti-spyware...

jager: adware might be a much better plan next round than in previous.  You can upload quickly, install quickly, and collect profits faster off another person's personal servers, where a fileshare would never be able to finish.  Which is why Hakuza gets them as more of the offensive, attack faction.

Especially if you speed up your adware install time.

Yep, that's how it has always worked... balancing to keep the big people from just buying all the softwares for power gains....
72  Feedback Terminal / "Bugs" and Problems / Re: Factions stuff on: April 29, 2009, 12:42:22 PM
Wow... that seems like it's going to be very, very annoying for coordinating your research, always having to remember to factor in your reduction when you set your research times.

I'd say it would be better to leave the same research time but give it that bonus % to version increase (100 hour research gives increase as a 110 hour research, with cost of 100 hours)

But that's just me.
73  Feedback Terminal / "Bugs" and Problems / Re: Factions stuff on: April 29, 2009, 10:25:09 AM
That's what I thought, but that doesn't change the confusion with softwares with no runtime...

All software have some of runtime, like research tasks on specific software.

OK, well clarify somewhere that research tasks on a software are also affected by that.

And does that mean if I am TL and start a 100 hour research on a log deleter, it will finish in 90 hours but cost the same AP/HPD and increase the same version as a 100 hour?  Or does it run for 100 hours and give me 110 hours of increase...
74  HP Info Terminal / F.A.Q. / Re: Buying Vs Researching on: April 29, 2009, 10:22:46 AM
Told you guys, the HPD cost will drop your power more than the software increase will help it with the super high prices at the software dealer...

In real life you would have a 100% success rate on the process tracer analysing the packets... they all have to have the address they are going to (and usually coming from)

In real life you wouldn't be able to continue downloads/processes on a server that has changed IP,,,

It's a game after all, mechanics that aren't very fun or useful when translated directly from real life are changed to make the game better  13
