Im thinking of maybe doing some research of my own and see if thats a good idea however I have some questions:
Is there some way to research faster then 1h/100HPD?
Does the original file still exists with the result of spawning the file you researched to?
More questions to be added later so everyone can see how nooby I am.

You can run multiple tasks at once.
There is a new feature for this.
Instead of running 1 10 hour research, you can run 10 1 hour researches, etc. The only cost is the extra AP.
So, run 10,000 167 hour researches and in a week you`d be number 1..if you could afford it financially or AP wise.

Never intended to aim for the top place. Im happy enough if Im in the top ten (and THAT would happen?). Anyway the only thing I want to research is file shares.

Ok here is the advice that has been getting out whenever asked.
File Share < Adware for NPC Servers
File Share > Adware for Privately OWNED Server
On both. The higher the level the most AP cost effective it is. The AP cost is linear as is the HPD Generation of the Virus. However the Cost of AP per HPD decreases the higher the level the virus.
There you go AD. You now have the strat of SGP and anyone else who has asked me for advice. Heck my alt is doing this and is raising in ranks faster than most others. I figure my Alt will be Top 20 in 3-4 weeks tops.
