Looking forward to testing this out. Just one question...

what will happen to the countless virii myself and others have spent all this round installing on our farms, are they going to suddenly go inactive? or can we keep them and their income for the remainder of the round?

Hope its the second, or i will seriously cry out loud /lol

It doesn't matter if everyone loses their virii (although I'm still doing research so..)

The idea is just to test this update now so we know for sure if it can be implemented into the game for Round 3.

They won't go inactive, however when you suck income from yourself you are gaining & losing HPD so the income is null.

There is a feature in this update that enables you to self-destruct an installed virus, that also helps if you install one on yourself by mistake.

So basically what you're saying is all us top players that have a ton of research at or above 800 hours still going, will have 0 income and may aswell say goodbye to raising in the ranks anymore?

I welcome the opportunity to test this update out, but couldn't we just do that without the virii part? The differences in rank power for the top ten require more than 1mil/HPD per day to be able to go anywhere, and if we all lose our income then all our research is for nothing! And im pretty sure there is more than one person who is not ready for the end of this round yet.

Pfft...ill test the new factions stuff, but then count me out until round 3 now. Thats over 1000 research tasks wasted, not to mention the months wasted growing the farm (so to speak). Why couldn't the virii stay the same until round 3? OR implemented when Revelation was imminent? Disgraceful if you ask me.

One a good note though, i love the look & feel of the new factions page/missions setup and the abilities, the 'A'-game here just went up a few notches :19:

But im afraid i still dont forgive you for the point above :2:

You must understand that it is imperative that Revelation Day be started very soon, so we can focus on the new features and missions.

If we where to leave the virii farms alone, then the players will hang on to them and delay the new round.

This way, they will start the round much sooner, and we can proceed with the updates.

Except that True Light gives bonuses on everything people have wanted for a very long time.   Bonus to HPD collection, Increased cracking speeds, and so forth.   I had hoped to work with you on the bonuses but it seems I was not wanted or I would have been included.

Any idea why Triadin quit all the sudden?  I thought he was hoping with the coding?

Of course i understand that, its just very frustrating for some of us, especially those of us that had plans, (Donn, back me up here, we both wanted to break some records in this round :laugh:) just a few days ago i started a server (dedicated) full of research, enough to bring multiple files up from v20-25 to well over 100 (and thus secure a place in the top 10 because i keep dropping out to 11th /lol), and now thats all down the drainpipe and i now have no use for the 4 other servers i own, added to which, i spent all my HPD on upgrades to my research server and have just under 1mil left :(

Back to the point, i understand that we need to concentrate on the new updates, but messing around with the players' game is not the way to go, if we wanted to drag the round on, why shouldn't we? we payed our gold membership for that right. Adding the factions update is brilliant, it just added another 100 things to do, but at the same time our ability to do ANYTHING has been taken away.

Somehow 2 posts went by as i typed this (lol), but nevermind, rant over, just fighting for our virii.

I don't know where Tri is, but he might come back later on. Maybe on vacation?

Edit: I also agree with Ebolla, factions could use some balancing... I would really like to go Omnicron for the File share bonuses but the FW and PW bypass bonuses are just too good...

And I assume "File share virus runtime" means install time?

How do you self destruct an installed virus, still can't figure that out...

Edit: Found it on the collect screen... you're gonna make me kill all 700 of my virii by hand, one at a time?  That's just cruel...

This is really anoying update! i have had f.s going for 110 hours right now and now they aren't worth a nuts load.

I have a little question..

If you have a virii on someone else server and you collect, then the player now loses HPD? what if the player don't have any HPD?

Ahh, i was just going to bring that up, but glad to see you got it covered :5:

Image this:
Switch to truelight for faster crack times -> crack server
switch to omnicron for faster hide+encrypt times -> wreck server
or switch to any other one for faster install times -> install virii -> then switch back

see the pattern? abusable to the max! /lol

Also, you can't bounce Unlisted Servers. They go offline after the mission is over, so any traces would be lost.

But, more interestingly, you don't have to search a lot of servers if you want to stop someone else from completing before you  :laugh:
Just undelete the log, crack him and stop his decrypt task  :laugh:

Go to Software, click "Destroy" on the virii on yourself. Or format...  :14:

Fixed a couple of faction related bugs.
Optimized the Search & Destroy to give out lower, mid, higher missions.

   NPC servers have all been capped at whatever BW is currently available.  IE 129 of 571 available then all you can use is the 129.  Now if you recall R1 a SGP tactic was to keep that BW tied up until we could install what we wanted.  Is it your intention that this tactic which you removed previously come back into play or is this just a bug?

Unfortunately I was right. Old bugs were left in, new bugs and problems were put in with this update.
Why don't you want fist to fix original problems in the game, then think about new options? I know it is much more fun thinking and creating new stuff, but every programmer must face his own mistakes and fix them ...

Reasearch going on.

Needed to finish research= atleast 10Mil HPD.

HPD now= 80k

HPD income with own f.s when research done= 12+Mil.

....This definetly should have been implentet for round 3... we've wasted our time... and now the top 10 will stay at that.

seems fine as it is - if there is a exploit i would like it fixed asap without any warning.
i assume you mean the way this update was rolled out
3 month warning it was coming
2 month discussion on what it should contain
1 month warning of its features
2 days warning it was nearly ready
12 hours warning on the exact time it was being implemented.
10 minutes warning - that it would happen and that emi would be avail in IRC to talk about any changes that were not understood.

exactly where do you think this process failed ?

I would not call, being told what features were going to be implemented, then nearly all input from players regarding them ignored, a discussion, second time it has happened too.

No one has any problem with the updates, thats what it is all about as a developer, but i do not see how disturbing players' games just to get them implemented early is going to satisfy anyone, our only dispute here is the fact that this should have been kept for round 3, and you cannot simply excuse that by saying "it will allow for ironing out bugs etc". And don't even get me started on the virii issue :13:

I agree totally....if anything there should have been a small 1 week window at the end of round 2 and before round 3 when this update was ready to be implimented that Emi could have set up a small beta testing just to iron out any kinks or bugs that may have developed and then when that was done roll out round 3 with a clean slate......this interruption of round 2 basically kills everything some people were working towards.....over 500,000 hrs of research basically shoved right up MY BUTT not to mention others as well. Now don't get me wrong so far I haven't really seen anything wrong with the update as far as functionality goes and it seems like a nice gameplay feature but non the less save it for the END(not near the end).


And I don't think it's up to Emi when the round should end...that should be left to the people who actually PLAY the game.

That's normal, after those missions are gone, the new ones will have the correct enemy corp targets.

Update timing was because:

- We needed to "polish" the Faction Project before the start of the new round. Small bugs where expected and as we already had the secret servers and the means to complete the faction missions now, the bugs where found and fixed much faster, so now we start a new round with a bug free update to ensure we have a fair new round.
- We had to precipitate the end of this round in order to bring more players for the new round.

- update policy is fine. We have the Add-on Projects discussion and the update has been discussed in detail with the players. Time of implementation depends on the game goals (see above)

There is going to be a mission, where you search logs for missing information and find all sorts of stuff and then put the information together and submit it to complete the mission. Difficulty depends on the number of steps (servers you need to search), and the hidden level of the logs. You'll be searching in secret servers for log ids. To make this work, there will be a log id entry in the Logs, so you can paste your log id in there to jump to right log entry. You will definitely need a good Log UnDeleter, but the mission will say what version you need.

Suggestions board is open for other missions ideas if you have some.

   I will say this much.  It is now Monday night almost Tuesday morning and I have yet to receive the e-mail from you regarding what abilities are already in place so I could create an expanded list for you by Sunday (As in Yesterday).  In case it slipped your mind here is the last few lines of the discussion that took place between you and I.

Because every single person who has good ideas needs to get that status? No.

He's an important person in this community, Ebolla, but thats no reason to make him a moderator.

What about all the other people who have helped in the present/past then?
