Total Power update

It seems the software power was calculated exponentially in the total power. This made the power jump up more then it should because of the software.

We've fixed the problem, and also the FTP Storage will now include the highest version in there in the total power as well.

Top power rating is just under 300k now. That was quite a difference.

I hope this doesn't change the Top ranking much since all have had the expo software bug. Basically, while the power is lower the top ranking should not change much.

Daaaamn... I guess since most of my power ranking has been coming from my HPD and server stats I wasn't hit as hard by the bug.

I dropped several places to a lowly 20th. I didn't realize how much of my power was tied up in softs. I had some good ones.

Can we get the calculations for the power ranking this time around?

I believe this also happened in R1.

R2:

Just completed 14400 hours of research: 7200 on Hide Files and 7200 on Unhide Files

Cost: 1152000 = 80 / hour since I am Gold

And why are we doing research? It's still not working as it should imo.

Riiight ... so it's now better to steal software then to research it. Otherwise you loose points , not profit from it ...

Bad hardware and low finances.

Hardware should mean a lot so I'm satisfied that the importance of software is decreased.
However.. Lets take a look at what happened after I completed another round of research, research that has been running for about 40 days:

This has cost me 768000 HPD and 300 AP and then we're not even talking about the upgraded hardware..

Enough examples given.
I'm uncertain if everybody sees this as a problem so I would suggest discussing this first before changing anything.

My first suggestion: HPD shouldn't add power. I know somebody who has about 50 million HPD and is in the top 10, next to players who have been using their income to research softwares! Better to be inactive than to be active?

Perhaps you should also get power when you just complete research? After all, completing research isn't as easy as buying or stealing software. Not saying that the last two are easy, but saying that researching is a lot harder.

Lets have a look first at how it is calced at the moment and wait with deciding anything?

But if you think IRL - hardware is less important then software ...
He who has better software can do much more with equal or worse hardware then the competition. Otherwise garage hackers would never be able to hack Pentagon, right?
It is the software and research of it that should bring more points, hardware is only complementary ... you do need hardware for running better software, but that's all.
What if only running and researched software was worth a lot?

Hardware is everything.

Big hardware means you can research a lot, run a lot of software, hack anyone you find since you can max overload and you clearly have a lot of income or otherwise you wouldn't be able to pay for it.

You can do nothing with your high softwares, without good hardware. You can however still be very powerful with a big hardware and smaller softwares.

I think the problem is that the power formula hasn't been edited since research was changed.  It's awarding power for software versions on the same scale it did when it was getting .006 version per hour research when it's only getting .001 now, so the expended HPD from researching is giving more of a decrease in power than the new researches are giving in power boost.

Seems like an easy enough fix to me...
