I think it should be deflated quite a bit.

I also think that for the benefit of adding virii to your own server you should be targeted much more by the corps.

I wouldn't mind if a Robber Barron costs and produced something along the lines of a File Share virus, but retain the ability to stay on your own machine and target the corporations.

As part of this, I think Corporations should target them often with about the same payout as file shares of equivalent value.

Another thing that should be added is the inability of your own group from killing your virii and collecting on them.

Hey Bontrose,

Does CCHS have a server now?

Ivan,

Going back to your original post...

I think bandwidth should be taken out of a virus installation and consideration.  A server should have a rating, which could get increased every reboot cycle, that is indicative of the maximum value of money-producing virii installed.  The sum of all money-producing virii cannot be larger than the server rating.

All virii would still have their memory and hd limits.

I'm almost thinking that the ability of spyware to steal the $$ of a virus should be changed.  As it is, a money-producing virus is much harder to install and easily lost to a quickly installed spyware.

What I would propose is Spyware keeps its ability to track transactions, but not capture them.  This would give the hacker the ability to track a virus to its source.

All money-making virii should have a small 100 cpu install file on their server that installed it.  It would be this file that we would have to capture (instead of the currently infected machines virus) in order to steal someone's virus.  Once captured, the file is transferred to the hackers own machine and all future transactions are moved to him.

This capture would have to be relatively quick though, otherwise no one would be able to steal another virus.  Small .1 virus a matter of minutes but larger files could take a few hours.

Thanks for the help, it seems that i only need a little more patience. I've found two public servers that i can break in 1

sure that when I start to get the hang the game is over xD

Although I don't seeing this game dying very soon, getting in now is actually good for you.  You'll have a chance to learn a bit about the game before it starts over and actually have a bit of a head start for the next round.  Learning the basics takes a while and is a real disadvantage for the newbies.

LOL... Nice...

Or someone installed it on his server and he didn't bother to remove since it wouldn't affect the robber...

I had a life, until I sold it on ebay.

Ebay informed me that it was an illegal transaction though and canceled the payment, but not before the buyer completed the transaction.  Now I am without life and money I sold it for.

I think Robber Barrons
  -  should either be removed from game
  -  or make it so they are much easier to install and disinfect and produce less $$$

Yeah, it should say you need to login first.

Connecting to the server isn't connecting via admin rights.  You actually have to 'log in' before accessing files/logs.

I hardly ever see the message due to the fact that clicking on LOGS is the first thing that I do when connecting to a server to do anything.  That automatically logs you in as an admin.

here is an idea a "testing server"
---call it beta
---let 25 ppl in
---for testing every new update(in case it crashes the server or goes terribly wrong its not on the main server)
---the bugs can be wrinkled out b4 the update is implemented.

25 people?  Are there that many playing anymore?

Robber Barron:

For those of you wondering how big of Robber Barron to create for 5000 AP.

68 hours of research creates a .5046 Robber Barron.

After installation it will leave you with ~130 AP remaining.

uses:
37,845      CPU
1,513,800 Memory
7,569       Bandwidth

That'll be nice...  We definitely need more PVP...  and not just stopping other peoples research projects.   I'm getting really bored just researching.

Would like to see the round end... 1

The the Commodore 128, Amiga 500, Amiga 1000 then we broke down and got ourselves a 286.

how long did you wait before the breakdown ?

i saw the cow and that was that  crybaby oh i remember those 2 years well..... crybaby

Quite a while actually 1  And when I did I was disappointed...  It really wasn't until the 386 that games and graphics actually came anywhere near the 64...  My Amiga still outpaced the PC until I got my first 486...

A real good friend of mine had the Amiga 1000 with a Video Toaster.  Back then all the best TV stations used the Video Toaster for their graphics, animation and such for the news and weather.  We spent many a night making our own news shows with some very fancy graphics (at least back then).

If it wasn't for my Mom and Aunts obsession for owning the latest and greatest computer out there I wouldn't be in the computer business like I am.  I'd probably be stuck flipping burgers or watching the register at a tourist shack...

My aunt bought a TSR 80, so my mom had to get one.
My mom bought a Commodore Vic 20, so my aunt had to get one.
My mom bought the Commodore 64, so my aunt had to get one.
My aunt got a 2nd, so we got a 2nd and 3rd 1
The the Commodore 128, Amiga 500, Amiga 1000 then we broke down and got ourselves a 286.

My first loan when I was 16 wasn't for a car, it was for a 386 33 mhz for $2,600.  It had a 20 MB hard drive and 640k of memory.
I paid cash, $250, for my first car.  A 1972 Plymouth Fury.

Funny thing is...  I'm pretty strict with my kids on the computer as well.  We give them 20 minutes each day to play.

Heck, when I was their age I was spending 18 hour marathons, sleeping through school or half the time skipping it...  Oh, wait... I think I answered myself there  16
