Title: Copy Post by: Sin15698 on October 26, 2008, 07:12:03 PM As I don't think it is possible currently to do this I would like to suggest it.
I think that we should be able to copy files we have on our gateway without haveing to redownload or rereaserch it. Now logicly this makes sense because people always make copies of their important files. I don't know how you would calculate time because you wouldn't be using bandwidth. Because this is a small and quickly thought of suggestion I won't be checking back here. Title: Re: Copy Post by: Seb on October 26, 2008, 07:13:06 PM bounce onto your own server :5:
Title: Re: Copy Post by: Exousia on October 26, 2008, 07:26:11 PM I've considered but haven't bothered doing this because I have Gold, but is it possible, Seb? Bounce OWN -> Public -> OWN and then upload?
Title: Re: Copy Post by: Seb on October 26, 2008, 07:26:48 PM I remember when I first started Emi said you could by bouncing to your own, so I think so.
Title: Re: Copy Post by: Exousia on October 26, 2008, 07:46:08 PM This bears testing!
Title: Re: Copy Post by: Exousia on October 26, 2008, 07:59:44 PM OH, yeah, it works like that.
Title: Re: Copy Post by: Seb on October 26, 2008, 08:08:14 PM woot!
Title: Re: Copy Post by: Exousia on October 26, 2008, 08:13:27 PM I had my BW turbocharged to 200% capacity in the process, though. lol Was kinda funny, but it worked such that you can use your whole BW to copy the file, so your only limit on this is BW.
Title: Re: Copy Post by: gs 059 on October 26, 2008, 08:55:44 PM you can also bounce directly from yourself to yourself, you do not have to bounce outside... I do not think it is a glitch, I just think it is the way emi lets us copy files easier... anyways, if I am wrong and it is a glitch.. oops....
Title: Re: Copy Post by: Exousia on October 26, 2008, 08:57:36 PM And so it is true! OWN -> OWN connection via "bounce" option. That's awesome. I'd have never guessed it, GS 059. :5:
Title: Re: Copy Post by: Nagitof on October 26, 2008, 09:10:19 PM Thats how i have been copying files on my farm. But there should be a copy action.
Title: Re: Copy Post by: Exousia on October 26, 2008, 10:04:45 PM Perhaps there's a reason for it being this way instead. I think the "copy" action most people are pushing for is an instantaneous one while this action requires some hardware, as would an actual copy IRL.
Title: Re: Copy Post by: human on October 27, 2008, 11:11:55 AM You do not need to connect to anywhere or bounce to DL a file.....
There is the javascript and the select box.... Title: Re: Copy Post by: Exousia on October 27, 2008, 01:37:20 PM You do not need to connect to anywhere or bounce to DL a file..... There is the javascript and the select box.... Now you're talking crazy. Please elaborate. Title: Re: Copy Post by: Raistlin on October 27, 2008, 01:42:05 PM Oooh, very clever. He's noticed and basically told us that if you check the box, select "download" from the list of actions near the bottom, and submit the page, you can download from yourself without bouncing out.
