61  Feedback Terminal / "Bugs" and Problems / Re: ip change bug on: April 20, 2013, 06:00:05 PM
I think your ISP assumes you will have ample hardware and bills you before they attempt to change IP, must be a fault on your side because you paid for it and they sent it to you but you didn't have the capacity to run it...I imagine it's the same with the Anonymous software dealer, if you pay for it and they send it to your server then as far as they are concerned they have kept their end of the exchange (whether you have enough HDD available or not) so it's your responsibility to check your own servers
62  Feedback Terminal / "Bugs" and Problems / Re: PvP problem on: April 20, 2013, 05:47:51 PM
for some missions it doesn't show your rewards when you complete them but they should show up in your PvP Logs
63  Feedback Terminal / Suggestions / Re: Various suguestions and ideas. on: April 19, 2013, 05:20:32 PM
i think you are anti-rev yes? well in that case i say the rev,s should only display ip,s of installed revs... not ip,s of were the rev,s are like when you download a rev your ip is in the revlationday list it should only be there when an active rev is installed.
I agree with you about the revday list not showing dormant servers, otherwise why not all the dormant servers including the faction ones aswell, but I think they should be added when they are running and have become active processes (installing/researching ...download/upload is not an active process because only bandwidth is being used up and which can exceeds the requirements for the virii themselves so it's not running)
64  Feedback Terminal / Suggestions / okay okay okay. on: April 04, 2013, 05:52:04 PM
by definition, Rootkit: A rootkit is a stealthy type of software, often malicious, designed to hide the existence of certain processes or programs from normal methods of detection and enable continued privileged access to a computer. (wikipedia)

by "continued privileged access" it means root/superuser, not remote access...but I guess the remote access is provided by the process it's hiding, so that means that the installer can't change IP without losing the connection between the two servers making them a sitting duck 16

Virus Breaker on a 0.1 Rootkit should work efficiently...
65  Feedback Terminal / Suggestions / HANG ON! on: April 04, 2013, 05:17:01 PM
wait..

this is bad, if you install a rootkit then they can't remove it because you keep cracking them and killing their attempts - if it allows you to keep their ips then it's unfair for them because all you need is a 0.1 rootkit and then the only thing they can do is Format HDD or wait for you to stop playing

so maybe it just keeps a process running on your server and you have to trace it (but the linked process on their server can still remain hidden)
all processes, including Malware Logic Bombs and Malware Overload Bombs are kept running if their process is rooted, and even if it's unrooted - they still need to IP Change while it's uprooted otherwise it won't die with the change
..and a 0.1 rootkit should take up lots of space but the least of all of the other resources, like 1 cpu and 1 ram
66  Feedback Terminal / Suggestions / Re: Rootkits on: April 04, 2013, 03:18:03 PM
Would the rootkit be able to hide itself and its own process too, or would you need another rootkit to hide that rootkit and have your first rootkit hide the new one?

you upload and install the Rootkit, hide the process and then destroy the Rootkit from Manage Softwares
you use Hide Files to hide files (this can be done remotely)

you should need a Rootkit Revealer (similiar to Unhide Files) to unhide the hidden process and a Anti-Rootkit Utility to destroy any Rootkits

you can hide a Rootkit's process with another Rootkit and then destroy the unhidden Rootkit

and you can hide any process not just for Virii
67  Feedback Terminal / Suggestions / Re: In Game Chat on: April 04, 2013, 03:07:07 PM
it's unfair...unless our names are removed from our servers 16

VARIOUS CHANGES
the ability to sort private ip's by name? agree
display time remaining until ip change for faction servers in the ip database. agree
Be able to view entire rankings, not just those near our rank? agree - when we click on Top Ranking it will automatically take us straight to the page we are on. but once we have >1,000,000 powers then we can only see no lower than the page we are on...what I mean is that once we are above 1,000,000 then we cannot see below 1,000,000 except if they are on our page

HPD CHANGES
A bank. disagree - this is taking away from PvP
Ability to allocate what funds go where. disagree
give groups the option to use group funds to purchase stock for the group? disagree - members of the group can invest HPD and transfer HPD to the group
mass transfer of group funds, divided equally between all members. agree

VIRII CHANGES
IP Leech undecided

REVELATION/FAITH AND OTHER RELATED CHANGES
Don't allow multipule revelations to be installed on the same server. agree
Faith - allow Faith to be used to disinfect standard malware as well. disagree - why have Malware Anti-Virus? if Faith can do this then are you suggesting Malware Anti-Virus is to be removed from the game completely? otherwise why/who would use it?
activating Revs/MRVs gives negative standing towards opposing factions agree
players controlling Revs/MRVs cannot join the opposing factions agree
Revelation Deactivation disagree - they are not designed to be deactivated, they are only programmed to destroy! ...if you want to deactivate it then it should destroy the host and take 5% off all your servers, hardware and software

Faith Avalibility I had no idea about this until I read it here
remove the list of secret servers that Faith is located on. disagree
How can it be a public location if all the servers it's stored on are secret servers? the servers in that list weren't public locations until they had completed their research on the Revelations Virii inorder for them to develop the Faith Vaccine
include all the TL servers that have a Revelation stored on it under the revelation status. undecided - how can they be public? Virii are illegal! TL repos only host Virii because they are rebels...until they meet the MRV and then everybody switches sides (they might aswell stay where they are and just throw the ball over the "net" into the othersides court)
And then increase the chances for it to appear on a secret server. disagree - they already appear on secret servers, just like you said 16

PUBLIC MISSION CHANGES
Increase the power limit to 2 mil for public missions. disagree
Add additional mission boards disagree
reset missions on a weekly basis disagree
Remove some of the disinfect virii missions and add additional crack secret server/delete file missions. disagree

Do anti-hacker missions (on public servers) give pvp points? If they dont, they should give some imo. Also, my above public faction boards idea? Proably best to have anti-hacker missions only show up on those boards. (Makes sense to me. Person attacks faction, faction sics one of their members on them.)
public servers are for noobs!

MISSION IDEA'S
Delete/modify Logs undecided
Delete Faith/Revelation -  Basically, your job is to hack into another factions secret server and delete faith/revelation agree
Attack Server - Basically you attack another server with malware. Available on secret server bulletin board. undecided

REGISTRATION CHANGES
required email confirmation on accounts? disagree - just limit to only include valid possibilities, there is no such thing as ".email" ...yet
upon email confirmation, player receives 7 days of Gold Account agree
option to select their faction upon registering. disagree - this conflicts with the tutorial
give additional starting software disagree - most types of software are available from the TL repos
higher versions of starting software (Instead of v.1, give them v.2) disagree - higher versions can be bought already using HPD
CAPTCHA after clicking the Register button on the homepage agree

as for who's online, you can only get that info for other players in your group and also the players in your friend list (if you have Gold Account then you can also see when they last logged in)

...LOL! :P

Gold Account:
$20 (price)
20 nodes (bounce/proxy)
20% off Hardware/Research costs
20 Gb (FTP)
...as you can see it's 1$ per node/%off/Gb

prizes per round = $210 ($60+$40+$30+$20+$10+$10+$10+$10+$10+$10)
with an average of 1.8 rounds per year that's $378/year just in prizes alone
- servers/development cost money too (it has been more than ~5 years now)

lifetime would have to be something like $1k if you are being serious

I think "Ad-Free" is a joke unless the ads are hardcoded into the website since they can easily be bypassed using simple ad-blockers
I also disagree with the standing bonus, pvp bonus and HW/UPG prices...not sure if you mean Hardware/Research but you can lower the price even further by using up Ability Points

under the circumstances FTP shouldn't require bandwidth (unless it's only limited by the server/servers using the connection, in which case it already is since I'm sure we have to upload to FTP but maybe you meant downloading from the FTP aswell?), and if anything storage space should be made alot cheaper
FTP HDD should cost something like $10 per 1000 Gb

maybe have Hacker Project Credits...$1 = 1 HPC
- if you don't have a premium account then it costs 0.01 HPC to change IP Name/Description per server each time
- and/or it could cost 1% of your Power in HPD

Bump the current AP bonus amount to 500 from the current 350.
I'm sure that changes as teh round progresses it will rise upwards, when the round is close to ending both HPD and AP go up considerably
71  Feedback Terminal / Suggestions / Re: Secondary Accounts on: February 09, 2013, 02:55:31 PM
I can hack you and make all of your files set to Public if you like :P
72  Feedback Terminal / Suggestions / Re: New virus on: February 03, 2013, 08:43:37 PM
so what would happen to the Servers then?

if they are shutdown all Running Softwares would be killed unless they are installed

can we shutdown our own Servers? means we can have secure offline storage and are untouchable by any Virii/Bombs and such

we shouldn't need to install a virus to shutdown our own Servers, we should then get to have buttons to switch them on/off
73  Feedback Terminal / Suggestions / Re: Secondary Accounts on: February 03, 2013, 08:31:54 PM
just make your files public instead

if you want to make them accessible by only just a select few hackers, then just make them public for a short amount of times so that they can initiate the downloads and then make them private again

there shouldn't be any logs from there left if they are public then when they download it from there

but you're still just a "Newbie" with only one * and 47 Posts  16

I just like the idea for some hacker asking/paying me to disinfect something from their server just so that I can get a hold of thier ip, disinfect the other hackers virus (if it's not my own) and then install some myself :P
sounds like alot of fun to me, lol

but maybe you can put up nbounties for hackers with negative fames for the faction you are with...and for hackers with positive fames for the enemy factions of the faction you are with - the higher the fame, the higher the payout will be

so if they are on a list...you can check this from the "PvP Board" - it's from the "Top agents" and "Most wanted" sections/tabs of that page (in-game obviously)

it could be added to the Secret Server "Secret faction board" missions as "Bounty" Type missions

and can range from:
Deleting Files (making IP Scanner very useful to some for this)
Installing Virii
Killing Processes found in Running Softwares from any Server, not just the targets  (must be known)

...ofcourse there should be a pretty hefty looking fee for all of this (dependent upon the requests made for)

*edit*
or make it for another Board - PvP Board (instead of using the already currently existing "Bulletin board" and "Secret faction board")
that will have all of the same missions for all Secret Servers across that Factions

The best way to ensure you pay up is to pay up front - if the mission is not completed you may cancel it after a given time (say a week) and recover the money.

1) You don't have to pay up front. We could have "escrow" so that you set the price of the mission, the details, and IP then you accept and it deducts x amount of HPD (Posting Price and Mission Reward) and the mission reward goes into an account to be received by the mission completer.

2) Should there be timers? Say you need something done by 9 o'clock tonight. Post it with an urgent tag and some more money for the timeline. The max time should be a week IMO.

3) Would people exploit this and use this to transfer funds? To stop this there should be a max for each type and the version of file. Say for a delete file <.2 should not exceed 100 HPD, and it increases in increments of 100 per .1 For a disinfect, Adware =<.166 should be max 150 and >.166 should be max 250. Spyware should be less since the files are not that big and Fileshares <.2 should be max 600 and go up in increments of 200 per .1

Or with the idea of faction wars coming about, you can set missions up but they can only be taken by your own faction.

cannot post for a Faction if you have any negative fames for it (or maybe just if you are on Wanted)

if the IP Changes then the mission is cancelled and the missions poster will be reimbursed with for the reward and a percentage of the fee that they paid
