In either event, I believe that the ability to make short notes for IPs in one's IP database has been put forth already. Title: Re: ip database marker Post by: J.GreenThumb on October 02, 2009, 09:09:32 PM *whispers* Use Excel *coughs*newb*coughs*

Title: Re: ip database marker Post by: Exousia on October 04, 2009, 12:11:43 AM Yes, Jake, Excel works, but it doesn't remove the IPs if a secret server or player changes IP for instance. It requires that one take some of their time for minor maintenance issues such as that. It's not prohibitive, just a little bit of time for a game when it could be spent playing. That kind of dedication to a game says a lot about how a person. Those of us with a real life would like to have some of that automated for them since it would help keep the playing field more level. :16:

Title: Re: ip database marker Post by: J.GreenThumb on October 04, 2009, 06:20:01 PM I'd rather have a few GOOD players actively playing then a lot of BAD players active. If you give up, then there will be more inactive servers to use as bounces and a short-term money maker. It's also a good honeypot I actually have several of them.

I'm all for separating the wheat from the chaff, but some need a chance to mature and develop a bit before they can be proven either way. That being said, I use Excel for some purposes with regards to IPs, which is how I know it's limitations. Some of these ideas like putting notes on IPs and perhaps even creating a couple custom sorting categories would only serve to supplement these capabilities as well as free up those of us who don't always have the time or inclination to be that meticulous.
