Title: IP Change and losing connection with own virii on localhost gateway
Post by: siremi on May 09, 2009, 04:10:10 PM

Please discuss this issue in relation with the Baron virus update and the upcoming update that will introduce remote malware attacks.

My suggestion is, On IP Change:
- do not break connection with own virii on owned gateway when doing the IP Change (this will help own sniffers, Baron, etc.)
- all active remote malware attacks coming from the gateway doing the IP Change will be killed

And targeting the gateway doing the IP change? What happens with them?

The task is killed when you complete the IP change, at its activation or on both fuction triggers?

are we too assume that all the other IP changes that have been suggested are going to be ignored ?

One step at a time Tri. We're updating what is most urgent.

Since the Baron virus requires so much AP, it's understandable that an IP Change should not render it useless.

You are free to link and other suggestions regarding IP Change. Also note, some changes are harder to do then others, depending on how much it affects gameplay and time involved in doing the change.

In regards to this....my first question would be since we have to target a faction with the robber virii will that at anypoint spur a mission against it??

in regards to virii on own server...there should be no loss of connection with a virii on your own server period.

Although with IP change there should be a loss of connection with any uploads/downloads to any other server.

This is a definite possibility for a future infiltration faction mission type.

would changing ip after collecting from faction kill the mission? or will it track you through the ip change?

One step at a time Gin. He's updating what is most urgent.

bugs and issues that have been around for ages are not considered urgent it seems nor are missing pieces from previous patches
seems the only things that are urgent are new features. :21:

Look this whole round was interrupted with the implimentation of a new patch totally changing the way this game is now played screwing up this whole second round....Yet it is not complete and he is wanting this round to end in a big way....I myself want to make sure what happened this round does not occur next round so if by insisting that the most recent things are the most urgent it's because that is what has been shoved in the faces of the HP community.

Bug and issues that have been around for ages haven't been touched since they were reported and went ignored. They should have been addressed and cleared up before any of the new updates were introduced. Someone might need some tips on priorties.    :bodyguard:

Maybe we'll make a deal. Hold off Rev another week and Robber Baron becomes our plaything?

You seem to be faring quite well, Gin. I salute you. I myself could care less.  :7:
