Title: Hidden Files
Post by: ãłþħά-∆9 on July 04, 2009, 07:04:11 AM
Yeah, i recently tried to hide some files with my 1.7 hider, but for some reason everything i hid, hid itself at 0.2 higher than the file version...
So an experimental fileshare virus hid at 0.4, but my firewall breaker hid at like 9.2, so I can't see it
I really don't understand how this happened, I've sent e(#1) a message in game but still no reply D:

hiding files is limited to the version of the software being hidden.

But i used a 1.7 hider on a v26. so its hidden it at v26.2 instead of 1.7
That doesnt make much sense as thats having a sort of reverse effect and actually making it harder to see
Surely the game should tell me things like that without having to go hunting on the forums for such a weird..feature?!

If you used a v1.7 hider you have to make sure you have a v 1.9 or higher hider in order to see the file...check your unhider version.

lol I'm not retarded D:

My unhider is v3
Why would it hide high version files higher than the actual 'Hide Files' version

It must be a bit of a bug

Can I plz have a copy of that magical v1.7 hider ?  :5:

This definitely sounds weird. If you hide a v26 file with a v1.7 hider it should be hidden at v1.7 and NOT v26.2 or v1.9 or anything else.
And a v1.7 unhider should allow you to see the file ...

I have no clue why your v1.7 behaves differently, haven't seen this before myself.

Alright, so, if I understand this correctly, your v1.7 hider hid a v26 file at v26.2 instead of v1.7 where it was supposed to.

I have not encountered this problem before with my hiders when hiding files of a much higher version, so we'll have to consult the astrology charts and see what's so special about v1.7 today.

Very odd problem to be having.

Basically yes, i assume its 26.2, but i cant see it but its definatly hid higher than my Unhider (v3)
If i didn't think it was a bug i wouldn't post here  :5:

Yes, it's a clearly a bug. One way or another, a v1.7 should not be able to hide something that a v3 unhider cannot see.

This may sound a bit insulting, but since I cannot check your logs and such for you: You didn't run a lesser unhider on accident or something or hide your unhider? And your v3 unhider is running currently, yes? I ask because I've done these things, not because I think you're retarded.  :16:

I'm afraid to close my password protect as i wont be able to see it again D:
I just got a reply from siremi and he basically said the same thing as you guys

Bah, so inconvieniet  :21:

Well, refer him to this thread or explain it again via cut and paste.

Can't blame us for trying to find a simpler solution than going through lines of code.  :19:

Just PM'd you drago :>

The only thing i can think of is if somehow it hid some of my files with my v8 hider, which again, wouldn't make much sense o.O

Okay okay, forget this thread, seems to be that for some reason my gateway decided to hide my higher files with my v7 Hider research process, and the lower ones with the 1.7 hider instead of just hiding them all at 1.7....

Thanks for the help Drago  :14:

Closing words...ALL research processes count as actual running programs, such as the issues with the password break. Which means it will hide any files with the higher one running through research, but will still be limited by that file's version.

Glad you got that sorted out DeltA, and sorry i'm late
