Wow you SGP guys are dropping that Email Bomb virus everywhere!

I find lots of 'clean' secret servers (about 4-5 a day) so I'm not sure why there is a need to clean virii I installed on a server just so you can take it over but it sure does irk me some good! (please flame me over my poor use of English hehe ;).

Well I'm taking on a mission to research my Adware AV up to 5.0 so that I can start cleaning every single SGP adware v4.5 virii I can find and either i'll rue the day or some of you will... I suspect in the long run I'll be the one doing the ruing but hey it'll be fun  :death:

Yes I've become familiar with the tactic of hiding software and making the logs look like it was deleted! I've also come up with a few nasty tactics myself so we shall see. Not that I have anything against SGP I wouldn't even be surprised if it wasn't even them. Whoever it is was quite sneaky using a dead IP. If anything I should thank them, now I track how long before secret server's IP changes so that I can use them to bounce thru and leave a dead trail.. oh and sniffer's are my newest friend I'm dropping them everywhere now... mwhahaha :bruce_h4h:

But most likely its the ~SGP MailBomb~ [public][Virii]     4.51963  Virus, correct?

I set up a public server a while back and someone was kind enough to donate that particular version to me.  Many a newbie downloaded that specific version.  Most didn't bother to change the name and therefore there are dozens of players running around with this particular software.

As for Disinfecting your virus's...  Well there was most likely a mission on it  versus just trying to disinfect to take over the server.

Not that I would know anything about disinfect missions...   :shifty:

That particular adware was leaked a long time ago, so, 50% of the time or more, it's not SGP. In fact, I've tracked several installs of that virus to non-SGP personnel including independent hackers as well as many of the smaller groups. We have ways of watching one another's backs as well.

humm... i remember when when if you delcared war on SGP you would lose your software and your hardware....  (came close to being on that end a few times) so what happend?

Declaring war on SGP gets you hurt? I never noticed that although I've also never publicly declared war lol ^^

And unless something changed since I went on HP-vacation, you'll need a long time to hide those high files :p

Yes, PvP is a bit nerfed.

Watch out, though! You'll have to kill all those upload, hide, encrypt, and delete processes and change your IP! The inconvenience will annoy you slightly!

You might even have to log in once a day to stop those processes.

Only thing you can bother someone with is killing mission/research processes..

(Un-)Hiding process should be shorter but should cost a lot more AP then. Annoying newbies or solo players, so nerf?! Then they should, instead of leaving/formatting and admitting defeat, interact with the top players and ask for help - "Unhide please :p" - in exchange for.. Knowledge? Income? Software?

LOL I never specifically said I was declaring war on SGP, I may be a risk taker but I'm not stupid!... It was more a declaration directed towards the hacker that was cleaning my virii (and I doubt it's a mission when they are cleaning all 4 virii I have on a server!). Like I said should be fun  :14:

To be honest, Bonty, it could be anyone. At the moment, hiding is much faster than deleting on a target server. Make sure you're bouncing through a few servers before landing at your destination and that you're changing your IP address after making an attack or doing missions that may attract attention and you should do fine. This kind of harassment happens on occasion, sometimes just because people like to do things like that and sometimes in retaliation for disinfecting or breaking virii.

I've seen a lot of breaker/disinfect/spyware action going on on the servers I bounce through to do missions, so there must be a lot of competition for NPC server BW these days.

Doc.  I'll claim the disinfects as probably mine.  Yes, they were for missions.  I don't disinfect otherwise... Unless it is sniffer daemons... I hate those.  I've done numerous disinfects where I've gotten a mission for every single virii on a server.  Those are the fun ones.  A bunch of small Adware aren't that hard to disinfect.  My last batch was ~80 disinfects completed (though Ivan killed the disinfects on his virii... was nice enough to leave the rest alone  :14:)

I'd recommend pushing up Fileshare virii... Just make sure you max out the bandwidth so someone can't come along and dump a spyware on top of it.  They are much longer to disinfect and don't give as much HPD.  The 9.x adware are paying 100k and well worth the risk.  The 7 or so 1.x adware not worth as much but can be disinfected overnight.

I've killed a few spywares myself. You're not talking about spyware, I assume, though, Doc. Rather intolerant of spyware. All of SGP tends to be.  :13:

I dunno Brok, whoever it was they were disinfecting my virii and then installing new ones in place... unless you were taking advantage of doing missions to clean virii and then putting your own in place (good idea btw!) then I don't think it was you ;)

But you are right...  There definitely is tons of free servers out there right now.  The mass reboot of secret servers happened again this last week.  I lost a good half of my secret server IP list -- and I'm pretty sure I had nearly all of them found.

And this is AFTER we talked Emi into extending the time period between resets.

the servers were created every 8 hours for a period of about a week - so there crash times will also be close together - the random factor is only within 1 iteration - when it hits about the 5th iteration they should blow on a daily basis rather than weekly

Also doesn't it take into account when people start dropping virii on them?  I thought I read somewhere where they don't try to start the reset until a certain % is filled up with virii on the specific server.

It could just be because someone or some group (i.e. -lx-) decided to pump out a massive uploading of virii.

I was thinking the other day it would be cool if after you've disinfected all virii on a server it would stop the reset from happening.  The admins would decide that the servers are clean and not need to do a reset.  :21:
