The Hacker Project - a free online game

Today the Icarus corporation informed us they received a message from a unique use email address. The message was anonymous and hinted at the development of some radical changes in the HP World network.

The message indicated that the creator of the network has returned and is working on a new project called PvP Revolution. The new project will start with the implementation of the remote malware destruction, followed by a complete and utter re-design of the PvP system in place in all operating systems.

The new PvP system is said to involve unique algorithms, a short description of things to come follows:

- a PvP Board will reflect all players in the game. PvP Hunters will have the option to trace and attack other players bank accounts and server data and target their virii. All for a price! Any and all actions on the target will be rewarded, depending on the damage done to the target. PvP Board will be for players and groups. PvP Hunters will be hired and payed by the mega-corporations. PvP Hunters will access their faction PvP Boards in order to attack agents of the different factions.

- several new types of software will aid the PvP Hunter in the tracking and detection of specific target resources. Tracking and hacking of back accounts, specific servers, specific virii or specific software.
  Some of new software types include:
  -> Remote ID Scanner (pinpoint general info on players ID, server numbers, software power, bank power)
  -> Remote Account Scanner (investigates the account balance of an ID)
  -> Remote Bank Hacker (steal funds from target and transfer to hacker bank for laundry. Hacker will be payed 20% of the stolen HPD after the laundry. An ability may also be added to increase this limit)
  -> Mini Malware Worm (a small and fast worm that installs on target and will destroy a small amount of specific targeted hardware. The Worm overloads the specific component and is destroyed on use. This in turn yields HPD as a bounty to the PvP Hunter)

  -> more software types to detect target defenses, files and hardware
  -> software types to detect target virii connections
 
- a new bank account type will be available. Safe Anonymous Bank account for Gold accounts only. This bank account will enable you to deposit up to 2 mil HPD in the safe. This limit can be increased like the FTP storage by donating.

- PvP Hunter OS Mode: accessing target server in PvP Hunter mode will enable the hunter to view and estimate each file destruction value. Deleting / Encrypting / Hide of files will gain standing, while remote destruction of target hardware will yield HPD

- software versions may suffer a limit on the max version it can hold
- defense programs may be overloaded to increase version ever over max
- process functions can be overloaded by using additional AP
- Group server cost will be decreased considerably.



Faction Work (you can improve any faction standing with them by taking on special missions)

- the top wanted hackers are listed ordered by negative reputation descending, for each faction
- missions can be executed on the neg rep agents

The "Letter of marque" is issued by a mega-corporation authorizing the designated agent to search, seize, or destroy specified assets belonging to a foreign party that has committed some offense against the assets of the mega-corporation.

- you can get a "Letter of marque" that grants you rights to attack a target for 24h and receive bounty for it
- you can only have one active letter every 24 hours
- letter expires after 24 hours, and you have to wait 72 hours before you can get a letter on the same target again
- having a letter will enable you to get specific information about the target.
   -> pinpoint a server IP belonging to the target: 250 AP (gives only IPs not in IPDb)
   -> pinpoint the IP of a money making virii on a server not owned by the target: 25 AP

- disinfect a virii belonging to target (receive bounty HPD depending on virii type / version)
- destroy some hardware on his server (using rev or malware, static or remote)
     - (bounty 20% of destruction in HPD given by faction)

I still think this whole Icarus mission decrypt points conspiracy theory is a bit far fetched. You realize how trashed my reps with the other factions are right now? I've been with Icarus the whole time, granted, but the amount of standing points required to make it up to just the base level would be obscene.

That's well over one million points I'd have to make up to True Light to swap back.

On the other hand, however, it's not impossible. As demonstrated by the obscene quantity of AP some have admitted to, some people have nothing better to do.

I was thinking that, in order to prevent such a thing, however much rep you gain with a faction, it goes just as far negative if you leave. I've never switched beyond the initial switch from TL to Icarus when all reps were zero, so I don't know how it currently works.

Okay well the issue mainly is decrypt sleeperrs in general, i only get the odd day here or there where i dont lose like 20-30 of them to people finishing it sooner, is way too tediuos and boring anyway  :21:

atm when you leave a faction that faction goes to 0
and goes into minus numbers for every job you do with your new faction

On seperate note....I see ton's of PvP type offensive programs in the works...will there be defensive counterparts as well or is this going to be strictly an offensive campaign?

The only thing capping AP would do is slow down the game as far as power advancement making it take longer to research and pay for such research. Yeah it sometimes sucks that some people have more time to do missions to gain much higher AP to do bigger Virii and research but that goes with just about any game you play...the more you play the stronger you become.  I've played with an AP can and without and either way the game plays the same and the usual people are near the top. I used to put massive amounts of time into this game but that has changed because like alot of others I have become bored with doing faction missions. I'm saving my energy at this point to see this great update that is supposed to be released by Emi which will probably happen never since it seems he does not want to finish things that were promised AGES ago at the end of round 2. Yet we few dedicated players sit like silly puppies waiting for master to come home hopefully with a treat......The only real difference in capping AP as I type this is that Rev has pretty much become unstoppable given the disinfect or delete times. I mean before Rev if coordinated properly was unstoppable but there had to be coordination and communication between all involved parties or else someone(I won't name who) could almost single handedly hold it off as occured in round 2(which was stopped upon promises made by a certain game programmer who's name I will not speak and who's promises have as of this time HAVE NOT been kept). Anyway sorry for the excessive post but I figured i'd get this off my chest and then go play another game. Have a nice day all.   :bodyguard:

No I don't...but when I do you see the result...I don't waste time with uneeded posts but sometimes things just need to be said and I said them...Problem with that??

I've never installed a Rev, how much AP does a 0.1 cost?
With the overloading of AP the max Rev version is limitless?

I don't think capping AP will slow the game down that dramatically, in fact this round has been the slowest, longest round i've played (longest round so far i've heard) So i think its quite the contrary

I suggested before to get rid of AP overloading and raise the AP limit a bit.

I stick to my view that AP should not be able to be overloaded but I'd like to suggest to make AP regenerate quicker instead of just raising the cap. How about 3 AP per minute for golds and 2 AP per minute for non-golds ?
Limit of 5000 could apply to both golds and nongolds in that case (and no more overloading :4:).

I'm convinced that'll pull alot of ppl into buying gold ---> therefore game is generating more money for Emi ---> therefore Emi putting game higher on his priority list. Everybody happy :)

Glad to see you back Emi.  All those PVP missions look great.  I'm really looking forward to it...

Oh, and Emi.  Please set it up that you don't get as much or possibly even bad rep, etc.. for attacking lowbies. 

I would expect to be attacked being in the top 3 like I am but wouldn't expect to be able to get much if at all for attacking someone much lower than myself.  If I were to start picking on someone like mobswisher who, while only being 5 rankings lower than me, has a much smaller level of hardware and software, I shouldn't be rewarded for that effort. 

I could possibly gain some type of negative rep from all factions in which more missions would be targeted against me.  Of course, some people may like that sort of thing and go out of their way to destroy the lower guy...  But it'll be like the old west where bigger and bigger bounties are placed upon their heads for their misdeeds.
