Title: Hello, I'm Sir Emi
Post by: siremi on June 16, 2008, 03:05:46 PM
Hi,

I am Sir Emi, the creator of the game. Feel free to have fun hacking :)

Some of you may know me, I am an experienced game creator I have another space game and a pirates online game.

Now I have just recently finished The Hacker Project, and I must say, I like it a lot you won't find a better hacking game. I've put in my 5 years in games making into this project and combined with my servers knowledge and how computers work, it has made a great fun game. I guarantee you can do almost anything in The Hacker Project.

Mind you, I have played all the hacker games out there before starting this project  :)

So feel free to explore the game and have fun!

Thank you for reading.

I've just started (I'll be introducing myself shortly), but already this looks like a cool game. Solid enough that it might actually last. I've played a few games that were ready to die (or already dead), and I this looks like a possible survivor.

Good luck with the game, and may it last.

Agreed on that one, I seriously hope it lasts although some overpowered stuff's being implemented. :')

Although with enough user input and support I think that'll even out eventually.

I can say iv only played 1 Hacking game that compairs to this one, and that would be Uplink. That said, this goes FAR beyond Uplink *MULTIPLAYER first off, not to mention its just...epicly bigger*

I salute you good sir.....I salute you...

I just joined this site and I must say it is fun, when I first saw it I thought it was gonna be like a wargames site, sites that have realistic hacking scenarios, and since I have finished all of those I would try this site and see if I could find more, when it wasnt I was a little disappointed but then I tried it and must say I enjoy it, not as much as a wargame mind you but still. :)

Wanted to say hi and congratulations. This game looks and FEELS amazing.

It's all about outsmarting the competition... and you have the chance to do so even as a little guy... GREAT game... (and I've only been playing for 3 days... turned gold after only 90 minutes of playtime and gosh I feel I might have just lost the rest of my life!)

Y'know, Sir Emi, I just wanted to say that we do appreciate what you do. I know you've been catching flak from a lot of the "older" players (inasmuch as a game this young has any), myself included, but I'm sure I speak for at least some of the others when I say that just because we complain doesn't mean we don't love the game. Keep that in mind the next time we start whining about IP change ;)

When I first played Uplink, I was hooked.  I loved it a lot.  Eventually, the lack of multiplayer lead me to look into others, none of which were even as good.  I second KaziArmada in this: this is a game that puts Uplink back on the shelf.  Thank you, Sir Emi.  I may just hang around for a while ;).

Hey, G-Freek here.  Just wanna' say I've been playin' this game for a few days now, and I'm greatly enjoying it so far.  I haven't even scratched the surface yet.  Just as a couple others have mentioned, I've played the game 'Uplink' before(although I've not completed the storyline of it...yet), and this game reminds me of it, although there are distinct differences between the 2 games.  Also, from what I've read about the capabilities of a player in this game, when comparing this game to 'Uplink', 'Uplink' is more limiting to the player as far as how massive they can build their PC, as well as how many PCs the player can have.  Anyway, I definitely think this game is awesome so far.

Great game, Sir Emi.  I've the space and pirate games you created in my favorites along with Hacker Project.  I might try those out sometime, too. :)

the only reason many games fall in the mud is because some games cannot be updated much, and is a case of 'that is your game, take it or leave it', and/or the admin refuses to reset the server. if a game can be easily updated, or the admins reset the server every once in a while, it makes a game which does not get boring. without both of these, a game can get very boring very fast. stargate wars (****) is a classic example of this; i am currently in the process of spamming the admins to reset the server to pick it back up again. this, and a couple of other games i play, can be updated easily, and reset once a year (or so...)

Removed link to another game. Advertising for other games is a violation of the ToS, but since you are using it as an example, I only removed the link.

I'm sure he wouldn't mind that, but there's no language specifying that as an exception.

Hiyas ^_^ Sir Emi, and yush this is definitely one of the best hacker games i played, though i haven';t played for the longest time i can't remember how long though... i tried a few other hacker games out there, namely Cypher, Cyberstryke, HackerForever and slavehack (hoping i don't get in trouble, not using links just names.) each had some nice features but nothing too concrete that i wanted to stay with it.

Yeah I tried those too, and they not really that good. The closest to the real hacker feeling would be Uplink but it's not multiplayer and we should surpass Uplink in features soon enough. What makes a great hacking experience is acting in real time to reach your goal while fighting the system administrator on the other side :) Kind of like how it happens when you crack a server in HP and the other guy is online and trying to get rid of you :)

Yeah ^_^ the one thing i liked about Slavehack was the desktop feature, kinda added a sense of realizism, though it would be as if you were on a mac more so then unix or linux, and Cyberstryke has a nice bit where you see a grid map with various colored servers that when you enter you see various nodes such as CPU, Data and so on. Cypher has an interesting thing going where you can work in a PvP style multiplayer missions, though they are against others and nothing working with others.

would be interesting to see a mission that requires a 50/50 co-op to complete it instead of just against another person only, afterall not all hackers work against everyone. the original purpose was for people to get together and work together to crack the codes for software or other stuff and help each other out with things. all in all this is still the best hacker simulation i have found though.

ive played slavehack and uplink. slavehack was more like solving riddles not actual hacking, hp is much better. uplink is awesome and nothing will surpass it.

Agreed, though the only thing i did like and only a minor bit was just the desktop layout thing, if they changed it from a mac layout to a linux one then i would have liked it a little more, it still wasn't that good though.

i mostly just sat around letting the spam mailer do it's thing.... it was rather boring most the time. but the desktop was really the only thing about it that was mildly interesting, short of that i was ready to quit the game shortly after the first day.

You pretty much have to be doing nothing but playing that game 24/7 to get anywhere near the top ten. Gets rather tedious.
