Title: satellites and explosions
Post by: norill on June 02, 2011, 11:25:08 AM
when i started playing HP i was disappointed that there are no satellites mentioned on the main page

Omnicron Mega-Corp has taken over North & South America, controlling some of the most powerful remaining satellite platforms and systems. Icarus Mega-Corp has taken over the Europe and Africa, controlling of higher number of medium to high platforms. Hakuza Mega-Corp has taken over the Russia and Asia, controlling a huge number of smaller platforms.
Because SATTELITEZ R AWSUM. There should be some kinds of freaking hard missions where you could steal uber secret codes from one enemy facton to take control of their LAZOR ARMED SATTELITEZ and aim them at the other enemy faction's server rooms to obliterate multiple servers (hardware damage, or better, disabling servers for a day) causing massive effects on stock market (current effects on player actions are barely noticeable). And when the mission is complete, instead of swimming in money from it, you could (as you still have those codes) aim it at other player server, HELL YEAH! The problem would be to locate it, because only ip wont give you exact location. Other missions could be cracking communication server to upload malware onto satellite hard drive, thus damaging it. Or aiming one armed satellite at another, communication or positioning satellite. But this is not the best idea - in world of HP where all natural resources are depleted, satellite would be irreplaceable, so destroying them would ruin all the fun.

hehehe, we may very well have those, you could connect to the sattelite and modify it's orbit, or hijack it and attack so stuff like you suggested, or intercept some data, etc. Would pretty awesome and could be done like a hard mission where you need certain faction title to get the codes.

Tons of uses for a satlink, untraceable connections, etc. Probably you'll have a small window maybe up to 30 minutes or something, or just be able to connect at certain times of day when the sat in above. And then the geosynchronous sats can be hard to get but could connect anytime with a shutdown timer...

I don't see a problem with replacing the sats, the mega-corps can always take from others so they can build some more sats, but we could respect the rule that some corps have lower number bu more powerful, while the others have higher number but less powerful sats...
