Title: Size of software
Post by: kosimazaki on September 08, 2012, 06:16:35 AM
Hello!

It seems that the program uses incorrect values of of software sizes in MB since it takes 1KB as 1024B(that is correct), but 1MB as 1000KB.

No it is right. There are 1024 bytes in 1 MB, 1024 MB in a GB and so on.

Password Protect    Basic Password Protect    1.52    129.14 Mb (this is shown at the game)
and my formula for replicating this is: =8700000(for password protect)/1024(for KB)/1000(for MB)*1,52(version)*10.

edit: the same goes for software in GB. formula is size in B/1024/1000/1000

Password Break 0.1 84.96 Mb
size taken from Software types page: 87,000,000 bytes
87000000/1024=84960.9375 Kb
84960.9375/1024=82.969665527 Mb
84960.9375/1000=84.9609375 Mb

MB is megabyte
Mb is megabit
1 byte is 8 bits
87000000*8=696000000 bits
1 Mb = 10^6 bits = 1,000,000 bits
696000000/1000000=696 Mb

why is it bytes/1024000

..but I guess that it doesn't really matter because since 2,147.48 Gb seems to be the absolute maximum
I'm considering the price of $1070 for FTP Storage but am faced with the possibility of the maximum filesize being raised
