Title: Hacked
Post by: Bloody star on August 04, 2008, 01:53:26 AM
Someone kindly hacked me and left me a nice fake IP and a few blanks in the log. They managed to kill my downloads, but I doubt that they planted anything on my server... My programs are all 0.1, so what can I do to find out if they put somthing on the server and is the only solution a new IP?

Check your processes, if you see an activated virus then the hacker managed to plant and activate a virus in your gateway.
Since you are starting, it is best that you just reformat with IP change (can only be used once every 7 days).
That will kill the virus but deletes all your software. Anyway you can always download new softwares.

Why does everyone forget about Newbie Protection?

Is there anything I can do about my IP showing up in running software and would it work if a got a better firewall and hoped that the hacker gets bored?

If you use bounces then your ip will only show in the logfiles of your first bounce and not in the list of processes.
Acquiring protection software is your priority #1.

Because the game never tells them about Newbie Protection in the first place, unless Lisa makes it a point to mention it now.
