I want to say that I have nothing against selling of accounts, but you may want to warn your buyers that the game may have rounds.

The continuation of the story will reveal that True Light has developed a virus called the Revelation to destroy the mega-corps. The mega-corps are working on an anti-virus to hold off the menace, and the players will be right in the middle and involved in the doom's day that will create the Halls of Fame.

I will write more about that in the official storyline topic.

So there'll be a reset after all... I figured the game would come to that. Of course it's announced as soon as I decide to sell my account :D

Uh uh... whenever it's ready could you share a bit more your thoughts on this Sir Emi? It can have a big impact on the strategy on the coming days. (Specifically - if you upgrade a gold server I assume you keep the upgraded server through different rounds?)

Maybe the upgraded FTP server will be retained... but the contents... will be another things. It should be erased for a total reset.

Im against selling accounts. Its like cheating but you buy it instead. Here we uses up our own time to get a good account and now youre selling yours to anyone who have money. Its not funny to be beaten just because the other people had money (I would probably be beaten by most of all players but what if I was in top ten?). Its the same thing with donating money.

You think donating is like cheating too. Awesome.

I realize this game is small, and I realize that you may not like the idea of someone being more powerful than you because they had a few bucks in their pocket... But how is that any different from me beating you without a few bucks in my pocket? The fact is that someone has to be #1. This auction is for anyone who wonders what it's like to be on top  :5: Whoever buys it will get my MSN as well, and I'll give them some advice to help keep them in the #1 spot as well.

The way I see it, I've literally spent hundreds of hours on this game over the past few months. It's been fun, but sometimes it's been hard work. I've planned and plotted, and it's payed off. If this account sells for $20 (the cost of the Gold account), I'm making like $.25 an hour for my time. That doesn't seem unreasonable to me.

The donations isnt wrong but to recieve HPD, AP or goldmembership is in my opinion wrong. But the game must bring in some money. Its expensive to run a server and Sir Emi must get something for his own living. (Im almost certain that Sir Emis work is just to program games and maybe other stuff. A project this huge cant be done on a persons spare time. Especially not alone.)

Thoughts on selling accounts - I am not against it, though I think it's a pity because

1) I like to take on the guy who made it to #1
2) Almost invariably whoever buys the top account is less skilled than the person who got the account there. Makes the challenge that little bit less challenging.

I like the fact you'll sell the tips too so that whomever makes it there does not crash and burn.

I think whoever takes over the account will actually do as well, if not better, than I'm doing. I only play about an hour a day... Someone who still seriously plays could do a lot more :) I think you'll find the new owner more than a bit formidable for whatever you can throw their way >: )

As for you Arthur, people are selfish. It's a fact of life. Just because you don't want to donate or don't have the money doesn't mean that it's in any way wrong for others to do so, reward or no. Is it wrong for people to donate to charitable causes because of the tax break? No. Is it wrong for people to donate to an online game to get an edge? No. People would have to literally spend thousands of dollars buying hpd to make a significant difference, and $20 is very manageable for just about everyone. If you're too cheap to pay it, don't knock on those who appreciate a game enough to pay for it.

There is nothing wrong to donate but that people get advantages because they dont have to check their bankaccount every time they want to buy a snack is wrong in my opinion.
Its in cases like this communism were a good thing because everyone had about the same income and therefor about the same conditions.
But back to the subject; I believe its wrong but also necessary that people donate. You can probably say that Ill upgrade to gold or buy this account if I had enough money to dont have to care if Im going to have food in the end of the month. I dont know if thats true but my opinion now is that its wrong.

Ok, let me list off a few things that strike me as odd, before we leave the "off-topic train."
1) You think it's wrong that people make more money than you.
2) You think communism is a good idea because people make more money than you
3) You're spending a significant amount of time playing an online game, despite the fact that you're wondering where food is going to come from. Maybe you should work more?

Nope. I believe communism is a good idea because it gives people the same conditions and does not accept people being poor. Unfortunatly the idea was corrupted and ended with countries like Cuba and China.
I only use ten minutes of my leife per day on this game. Sir Emi should make it more entertaining. And I cant work more. The only reason Ive been so active lately was that I was on my last days of my vacation. My schedule doesnt allow me to do much more since I also study to become an electrician.

Edit: Im sorry to bring it up again after you steared it back on track but you cant just write things like that and right afterwards telling me that were not going to talk about it without leaving me a proper chanse to reply on it. (Its what politician does.) I could send you a message about it but this started in public.

Ok. I wounder if anyone in the top 10 would bid on it. I dont think theyll would do but they could. I think the one buying are going to be someone played for a minimum of a week and wants to go straight to the top.

Really, the account would be useful even for the #2 player. Because the big limiting factor for powerful accounts is AP, having a second (and very powerful) account would be immensely useful in infecting servers, attacking threats, and running high level research. I am interested to see who decides to buy it (or even bid on it)...

Anyway multiaccounting isnt forbidden if they arent interfering with each other. Then its rather useless to buy a new account for getting more servers. You arent allowed to do anything with them that affects your new account. I dont think Ebolla or anyone up there would give their account up for a new one. In fact a lot of players have left the game and then I dont think someone up there would throw away their handmade accounts on something they havent done themselves. Im probably getting annoying at this point so Ill stop saying the same thing over and over again now.

Oh crap, we're really resetting? just when I thought... just when I was settling into the game.

This is probably a contributing factor in the Revelation Day update, IMO.

Well, we don't know exactly what the update will do yet or when it will be released... And hopefully we'll get more details
soon because of the fact that every player (except for one) so far has posted that some kind of reset on the main server is bad, since Emi said there wouldn't be any.

From what I'm reading though, the resets seem like they might be player led (through viruses). If that's the case, then this account could/would be the critical factor in whether it does or does not happen! The owner could either research the virus so high that it can't really be disinfected, or research the antivirus enough to be able to handle any threat that arises. The fun thing is that whoever ends up with the account has the ability to put themself in the hall-of-fame... and they can decide what puts them there  :7:

Even if this server does get some kind of "reset," the Gold status will stay with the account and that's worth $20. The spreadsheet to track just about everything in game and the strategies I'll pass on should make it well worth at least that, at least in my opinion. We'll see what you guys think though :)

The point is that players can STOP the reset by stopping the virus. This account can stop a lot of virii. Also, if you read what Emi wrote, he said that the virus has the ability to wipe out the CORPORATION servers and that we'll be caught in the middle of it... We still have no idea what that means. Do your research or leave your spam at the door (preferably don't post in this thread at all, since you obviously aren't interested in the account. There's plenty of other threads for you to troll).

I'm not mad at you, I just get frustrated when a post (seems to) add nothing to the discussion, especially when it's my topic. Thanks for clarifying though, and you do have a valid point. Yes, if the new owner chose to wipe out all the major corporations, that would only happen once... As far as we know. We still don't know how the corporations will affect our servers once they get hit. Still, some people have said that their reason for not being interested in the account is because they want to "make their own way." This way, everyone would be even again (if the virus actually causes a reset of player servers instead of just corporate) and they really could make their own way, on even footing with every other player.

Well, I think you're selling yourself short, there will be prizes for the Top 10 at the end of Revelation Day, if and when it will happen as it all depends on the players. I'm estimating at least 2 - 3 months until the first Revelation Day.

Cool - that'll be a good incentive for whoever buys the account. TBH I'm so frustrated right now that I don't think I'd keep playing even if the round ended in 2 weeks. Whoever buys this account WILL be first place, because their score will be over 300.000.000 easily... and that's just with the research already running. If they actually take care of it, they should be above 500.000.000.

I'm not selling the account to make a few bucks... I'm a Realtor, and my next paycheck is going to be over $20,000. I'm selling the account so that whoever gets it WANTS it enough to pay for it. Auctioning it means that whoever wants it most, gets it. The fact that they'll more than make their money back is a nice perk. If they play according to the strategies I'll share, and improve on them, they should win every round after this one too. Thanks for showing enough of an interest to post in my thread though.

went for a last minute snipe, but failed, woulda paid $40 for it easy!  but chances are the winner probably set his bid to $60 or somethin so i'd have failed either way.

Bummer :p But the account has been sold for $38.00 and paid for. I'm waiting to hear back from the buyer with what they'd like the email/password set to, and then I'll all-but disappear. I may stay active on the forums for a little while to see how everything pans out, but no one likes an old veteran reminiscing about the "old days." I'll make an official "goodbye" post eventually, since it seems to be all the rage these days.
