We should be able to " UnUpgrade " the servers ; receiving about 80% of what we paid

For example :

My pc is : 550/3/32/5
I buy more 45 kbps at 300 p/ kb ( total = 13500 HPD )
But then; i don't want it anymore; so, i sell the 45 kbps for 80% of it's price : " 13500 * 80% = 10800 HPD Back )

I have a problem with this. Namely, the unbalancing effect it would have on PVP. I haven't given much thought to cpu and memory, but if you always sell back all the hard drive space you aren't using, you can't have a virus uploaded. Or, if you're going on vacation for a few weeks, you could sell off your bandwidth, so that A) nobody could upload to you, and B) nobody could install money-making virii on you.  Or, suppose I want to attack someone? If I upgrade to 3k bandwidth, uploaded a malware, and then sell off my bandwidth, they can't retaliate the same way.

In short, I think the idea is mostly untenable.

lol, you can has no servers, but then you has to use public servar prugrums.

I think just seling a server would be most effective, you sell it for the same price you got it, 20,000HPD. Doesnt matter how much you have spent on upgrades ether. Just today I bought a server (mouse spaz). I dont need it.

actually yes, and i kindda like the idea :D but there should be a limit saying that you only could downgrade with 50% or something :D

We should have an option to sell hardware upgrades as well.

Here's the case:
You are very sleepy yet decided to upgrade you virii farm. However, you entered 500 in CPU upgrade instead of BW upgrade for virii farms. Doing that makes you want to delete the whole server. Please, what will I do to that server, I don't want to fill it up with virii. :laugh:

How about adding a time delay to degrade hardware so it will not be abused.
And like format, it will unload all program when it is finished.

The biggest problem I have with this has to do with Malware...

You see one of those nice little overload bombs hitting your huge server... and so rapidly downgrade it to newbieness before the malware hits!

how about malware 'disables' your ability to use it?

A better Idea :

You will not be able to DownGrade if there is Malware/revelation in the HD or its being downloaded

You will not be able to sell resources being used ( for example; in the server there are just 3 FS in the HD and they are being used; so; the minimun the server can get is 750 CPU/ 10 HD/ 32 Mb RAM ( The Noob Minimun )/ 150 Kbps BW )

I've had this on the task list, you would sell back the hardware to the dealer for 40% of it's cost...

That way he would still lose even if he sells in a hurry due to the server being bombed by malware...

In case of Gold for a 100 HPD upgrade Gold account pays 80 HPD, and when selling receives 40% of 100 = 40 HPD back. (so Gold gets 50% of spent amount back)

For non-Gold account, spending 100 HPD on hardware and then selling => 40% of 100 = 40 HPD back.

It might be useful if I click wrong or something but last time I did that I ended up with the double of my CPU (I accidentaly clicked a zero too much and I got enough HPD) so I dont think I will use the option.

Heh... I just dropped 300k into my main server instead of my fileshare farm...

I don't suppose that there would be a way to implement changing over upgrades fully for a short time after buying them... like for a couple of minutes after you buy them you can move/remove them and then they are set in...

I just really hate to... well not waste those upgrades, but my main didn't really benefit from that upgrade setup like my farm would have...

Ouch. . . Hey, maybe it could be something like "If you haven't started any processes on the upgraded comp, you can sell it back."?

HJ, what do you mean? Logged into by the owner, or by someone else? Cause if it's someone else, it can be abused (see my other posts on using it for quick uploads, then selling back the BW), and if it's the original owner, what if they accidentally upgrade the one they're on, but don't start anything with the extra hardware?

Yes it can be abused. But there are really people who accidentally purchased the wrong number hardware upgrades.
There should be limits like time delay (e.g. 1 hour before degrade task is complete) or huge AP cost (1000 AP per server) or you can only sell once per 7 days.
