Behave yourselves while I'm gone.  13

You're still here, so we can still misbehave....right?

In the World Wide Web, Spiderman is king.

I once found Chuck Norris on the internet.  I believe that he was keeping it down after delivering a roundhouse kick.

Everyone in the world today could easily fit inside the state of Texas.

Sure you could, but can you imagine rush hour?

Someone has to be an idiot and get a crap job and pay taxes while the rest of us who think with our mind instead of our ears find ever more clever ways of making 6 or 7 figure incomes. If you are intelligent and wealthy have 5 or 6 children so the dumb poor working class that has 2 or 3 do not take over like in the movie Idiocracy.

I agree.  But you forgot about all the people who have kids, and then abandon/abuse them, forcing the people who make the 6-7 figure incomes to raise them (both physically and fiscally).  If these "intelligent and wealthy" people wanted the responsibility of children, they'd do it themselves.  It's more fun that way!  People who aren't prepared for (or capable of) caring for a child (physically, emotionally, financially, etc) should keep it in their pants.  Just like people who aren't prepared to die shouldn't (and don't) go jumping off buildings or holdings guns to their head.

Again, just my opinion.  Agree/disagree/whatever.  Just play nice 1

Every definition of "internet" I can find has the word "computer" in it, so I don't think the human language qualifies as an "internet".

The only exception to my definition search is some website from the University of Wisconsin which defines internet as "a network of networks", but then doesn't bother to define "network".  That's like me defining "internet" as "a thurmomdapoplatic pronathalic of gretchindaflication".  (note that this definition is now on the internet, so it therefore must be true.)

Broks wife just keeps poppin' em out  13

What is wrong with that? I wish more people had at least 3 children. The world is massively underpopulated.

Move to China or India.

Seriously, though.  It's not that the world is underpopulated.  It's just that the wrong people keep having kids.  Don't believe me?  Watch Jerry Springer sometime.

On topic: Congrats, Ex.  Now we can start calling you "big pappa" (don't you love it when we call you that?).  I wish you only the best in learning your new role.  I remember earning my "dad" title for the first time a couple of years ago, and I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Except maybe a Firewall Protect v4000.12175

Behold!  The Internet!

And I believe you CAN dump things on it.  However, heavier items might crush the internet.

Well if that is true I want to know how you did it. Asexual reproduction for humans would an interesting step forward.
who said anything about humans?

There are no more humans.  Finally, robotic beings rule the world.  The humans are dead!

Me neither.  Again, I keep a low profile.  I figure the longer I escape detection, the longer it will be before people start coming after me.  How's that for a hacker mentality?

And I have no alt here.  This is my one and only account, and it keeps me busy enough.
12  Feedback Terminal / Suggestions / Re: Destroy Hardware on: July 13, 2010, 12:54:20 PM
Not to be technical (pun intended), but we're not talking about destroying hardware - we're talking about downgrading our gateway.

I imagine that "Mr Admin" has a server farm somewhere, and sells the users (that's us) a virtual machine that resides on that server farm.  Depending on how much we pay, we are allocated a certain amount of storage, memory, and CPU power to use on that virtual machine.

If we want less power, we should be able to downgrade our gateways (so that's a "+3" for those that are counting), but I'm not sure we should get HPD back.

If you do get back HPD, then the feature becomes an exploitable safety net - you can downgrade your network connection when you log off for the day, ensuring that anyone wanting to upload a virus is not going to finish before you get back.  When you need the connection again to move files around, or upload your own viruses, you simply upgrade it, do your business, then drop it back to nothing.

In fact, maybe there should be a "service charge" required to perform a downgrade.  If users want to exploit this feature to serve as a safety net, they'll have to pay to downgrade, then pay again to upgrade.

Yeah I'm in the top 50 (well, 51 today!).  I tend to keep a rather low profile - been hacked a couple of times, but thankfully the hacker was just looking around, and not malicious.

Please note that this not an invitation to find and hack me 1  I don't think I'd have much useful software for you anyways.  And my systems really don't have a whole lot of power for generating revenue streams through file sharing or ads.  Now, if you need a new paperweight or a doorstop, I'm your man!

I've since stopped (and restarted some of) these processes, and while the problem isn't easily reproducible, I haven't seen it occur again.  Thanks for the quick response!

some server of people look like public servers to thraxian

Unless there's a bug that causes private servers to be listed in the IP Database when you click on the "Secret" button, I'm fairly confident that the servers I was hacking were NPC servers.

Also, the missions I was working on were to delete files from a server.  According to the mission description, the server was not listed as "Gateway", and the description did not include the phrase "damage a hacker", which I believe are the two signs indicating that the server is privately owned.

I may be fresh off the boat, but telling the difference between an NPC server and a private server really isn't rocket science....  Thanks for your concern, though.

See this post, as I think the issue I experienced (and posted there) may be widespread:
