Does it make sense to have a second server that you batten down really well and only use for backup storage?

So, are you saying that a program that is running cannot be deleted? 

Is it a good idea to spend those points early on, or save them a while? Also, is it advisable to spend PvP Points on Ability Points? What about action points, and when I see Cost AP to modify a log entry, is that Action Points or Ability Points. I assume it is Action Points, as that would be horrifically expensive if it was the Ability Points. Where can I find out how many Action Points I have?

Too bad. It makes the game look totally neglected to have so much garbage on the board/page. I am always leery of spending money on sites that refuse to clean up dead stuff on a regular basis. It looks like they need the added junk to make themselves seem viable, when in fact, all that clutter just says "We don't care about this site."

But a second server would allow me to do a wipe and reboot if needed, yes?

I went in to delete a file, and I could not do so. It was a v.5 file. Did that make a difference? Do I need a higher Password Breaker to delete a file?

How do I backup files? Do I need a second server? Can I pick up a 32 gig flash drive somewhere?

I just saw an Encryptor file sitting there while doing a very low-level hack. I thought to myself, "Self, you don't have one of those, and it says right there you can download it." So I did.
Now I am wondering if that means I will now be a target of retaliation. Or, is the little v1.2 Encryptor just too tiny to worry about? If I am going to be a target, what is my best defense, and what level should it be at my worthless station in the grand scheme of ultra-junior hackers to afford some actual defense?
Does it make sense to hide a higher level defensive software on my own server to keep prying eyes from knowing what they are up against when they enter my own private Matrix (don't laugh...one day I will slide from Neuromancer  to Matrix  ...it can happen...really!)

It occurs to me, as a newbie just reading this, that the real threat is not the Corporations of the Light, but the players playing those factions. So when I want to be defensive, it is against players that I have to plan for. Does this sound right?

I know this is an old thread, but I can't help pointing out that virii is the plural, and viriis is an incorrect, non-existent term.
Back to your regularly scheduled program...

Can Abilities be reset, ie..the list of Abilities you chose be changed with the points put in different slots?
Can you only upgrade Abilities are specialties specific to your faction? It doesn't look that way at first glance.

Is it just me, or did someone clean up the Group list overnight? It seems there is a whole lot less to look at than two days ago.

So what about finding a group to play in? Any suggestions? I really need some guidance that is delivered better than the nonsense in the tutorials.

I think a group would be a good idea, but then I read the goofy spite posts and see the really ancient dates on most of the forum posts and I have to ask...What is actually going on here? Is this game alive? It looks like it could be cool, but it is hard to get a grip on. Is there a group out there I could get into that will help me get my feet on the ground?
