News from True Light!

We've got reports that the mega-corporations just expanded their networks, True Light really needs you help to get rid of the menace they pose.

They seem to be gathering a large cache of Log Deleter / UnDeleter software, all available hackers should target those files.

Check out the mission bulletin board on your IP Database servers and accept some of the new missions to gather the intel on the new servers.

Try to take a mission that gives like 5 - 100 HPD reward at first, don't take the 1000 HPD one... 

Don't buy 300 HPD server targets just yet, try to focus on installing viruses and research viruses because you won't find any virus versions better then 0.1 that are on the True Light servers. Download the Adware Spam and start to spread it around and research the file. You may want to hide it on your system...

Secret servers will spawn with more advanced software on them, but the key is to install virii on public servers.

Admin access is something you have in the IP Database on a server. If you cracked the server then you have it. Admin access means many things, it's not just a password, it could also be a weakness in the OS or a bug in the system that granted you access, but to make it simple we just call it admin access on the target.

You can lose admin access if the target changes the pass or his IP. This Disconnector software may be a tool to disconnect the intruder and erase his admin access on your gateway. This will give you time to change the password or maybe hack him yourself while he tries to crack again.

Hm, that's pretty good idea... some new software type called Disconnector or something, and then when you spot the intruder, you would open up the Disconnector and boot him out of the system, maybe also take his admin access.

This should work like the scanner, you just input his IP and the program checks if the hacker has your admin access / connection and disconnects him. Of course there will also be an Anti-disconnect program that he will run in order to hide from the Disconnector.

This should have to be instant with no waiting time, input IP, quick check, found or not, disconnect or not.

Could be done, good idea 

Depends. First you have to keep the crack process in memory and that takes resources. Second, there is another check before giving admin access. Your password break against the target new password protect. If the protect version is greater, you can't acquire the admin pass, have to upgrade the version and start again...

One hour of research will increase version by 0.006

To reach 1.0 from default 0.1 will take 150 hours and about 15000 HPD

To reach 0.5 you need 6667 HPD or you can buy it at 10000 HPD from the software dealer

It depends on how fast you need the version, the software dealer charges extra but is faster then research.

You pay the HPD only when completing the research task, but be careful with long tasks others can stop the research task if your gate gets hacked and you have to start the process again, but you only pay for it when completing the task so only time will be lost in such a case.

In a linear manner, from 1.0 to 2.0 if would take 166.67 hours and another 16667 HPD.

Changing the password will take away the admin access others have on you, so they can't bounce you or access your data.

It is VERY important to change password after you upgrade your Firewall or Password Protect, because the hackers that cracked you have to crack again and they may not have the software to match your defenses, if witch case they have to upgrade the attack software too.

- When trying to kill a file transfer on a server, you may get this message:
"This process has to be killed on the target that initiated the transfer!"
- This means you have to crack the target in order to stop the file transfer.


- this does not affect the kill action if your gateway is under attack, you can still kill any un-authorized file transfers from / to your gateway, provided you are online and guarding the gate


- if your gateway in under attack with file transfers, others connecting to your gate remotely will have to track down the target that initiated the transfer and kill the process at the source. However this is not as easy as it sounds, because someone could bounce several connections, so the IP showing as the source may not be the IP that initiated the transfer. In this care, you have to search in the logs for proxy connections to try and find the source of the download.

- this does help a lot when transferring from public servers with a bounce connection, as you would be very hard to track and hack so they stop your transfer.


- other remote tasks like delete file, hide / unhide, encrypt / decrypt will also require the main gateway access or target host access to stop.

You install the Spyware on a server where you see lots of money making virii that have a lower or equal version then the Spyware you have.

Upload the Spyware on the virii infected target and it will intercept the HPD when the unsuspecting hackers try to collect their profits.

The Spyware will also reveal the IP address of the hacker trying to collect, as an additional reward 

Groups of hackers are very difficult to maintain because they can turn against each others very easily.

Nevertheless we will study the group / clan suggestion and implement a working system in the near future, but for now we are monitoring how people can get along in the game without any group features. You are still free to help each other, as long as you don't use multi-accounts to gang on someone and such, you can gang on targets with your ingame friends sure, it's no problem.

Until then, we can use the ingame message system to form temporary clans / alliances with your own free forum.

Ok, try this. Click on "IP Database", then click "Public" in the IP database screen, and then click "Connect" on the first server on the list.

Now look at the bottom of the page for the "Bulletin Board".

The public servers are starting to pop up "anti-hacker" missions.

There is a small change that when installing virii or stealing files on the public servers the True Light or mega-corporation may detect this incursion and may create an anti-hacker mission. Those missions usually target the hacker's password breaker software or a high-end file on the hacker's gateway.

The mission are very good in rewards and may lead the facilitator to a good gateway target that has already a virus on the system that could also be installed. Of course those hackers are usually heavily protected by custom firewalls and password protection software.

The is a distinct difference between the two.

An upload process initiated by a gateway computer can only be completed by the same gateway computer.

On contrast, a download process can be completed by some other hacker accessing the system remotely. Has to say "Download" not "Sending download" in the process details.
To complete a download process on another gateway, you have to be on the receiving end, on the system that is receiving the download. If the timer is complete, click on "complete task" and the file will be downloaded.

To get rid of the uploads / downloads: If someone accessed your gateway and is sending a file, your gateway can kill the file, someone else can _not_ kill the transfer from your gateway but they can kill the transfer on the initiator computer, so they have to crack the target, but if you are online and receiving the file you can kill it.

Killing transfer examples:
- your gateway receiving a virus and you are online, you can kill the transfer from your gate or the attackers gate.
- you access a public server and see lots of downloads / uploads. You try to stop them, but get an error. You have to hack the initiating gateway and kill from there.
- your gateway is receiving a virus, one of your friends see the upload and try to stop it from your gateway. He receives and error. He has to hack the initiator and kill from there.


Other info:
So you can't control others virii uploads remotely.
And make sure you read the Terms of Service regrading multi-accounts.
There are several anti-multi account build in protection to the game.

Limitations     
        (I) The maximum amounts of accounts per person
   You may have multiple accounts only on those circumstances:
   You do _not_ use your accounts to help one single account.
   You may _not_ finance a lower power account with a higher power one in orther to do damage to lower people using the higher account resources
   You do _not_ use your multiple accounts to attack one single target.Your accounts may _not_ help each other in any way. You have to play each account as a single entity to ensure the fair play as opposed to your fellow captains.
   There are special features in place that will automatically detect and prevent connections to your multi accounts.

Check the name of the first server, it may be your gateway or another player server, those don't have a bulletin board.

It it says "True Light" or some other mega-corporation name, then look for a "Bulletin Board" link in the lower of the page, right of Admin Crack / Login, just below of connected server details.
