Feedback Terminal / Suggestions / Re: Virii Income Change

Disinfect... I thought we agreed on 2 hours per .1 fileshare and 2 per 1.0 of adware? That is why I tried to keep with 1 hour per .1 file share and 1 hour per adware for disinfects.
Disinfect, good. Wanted to make sure we were on the same page. Been staying up too late lately and not thinking very clear. How about labeling the column as disinfect time and adding a install time for comparison.

So are these numbers the install times or disinfect times?
I'm fine with them as install times (BTW nice formula). Disinfect times are what I'm worried about. Even though it'll hurt me just as much as everyone else, I want to make sure that even a 30+ version doesn't turn into a 50+ hour disinfect.
How about something along the lines of your numbers * .8 to get the disinfect time. Disinfects are quicker than installs, but would allow room to grow with the install time.
Your comment before of million BW server farms scares me. Robber barons scared me until SirEmi implemented the 5 hours per .1 change. What I don't like is unbreakable positions.
I also want to make sure that virii no longer use up the servers BW. I want to make sure that someone can come in and start stealing files, uploading virii (to fight with their revenue stream, or spyware to steal it) and such. BW locked servers are no fun.

Or make encryptor more useful in general...
Run a file and encrypt it, the process cannot be stopped, downloaded or messed with until decrypted. Thoughts?
Process Lock / Unlock? That would be nice. Would be a decent way to protect your firewall/password protections. As well as your research efforts.

Glitch,
I think the installs should take longer than the disinfects. Reason being is that on your own server it would be much easier to install your virii than someone to disinfect it, plus you are able to change IP very easily. I would hate to see the reemergence of virus servers that are unbeatable.
Plus, I can easily see very large versions of the FileShare and Adware being installed on your own gateways. Maybe put in place a maximum limit on the time to disinfect, something along the lines of 6 hours. This will give people a chance to actually complete missions against another player.

Well, if you really want to get technical.... A Trojan horse is a program all by itself. It appears to be a valid program and once executed does its dirty work. It does not attach itself to another program.
Whereas, many viruses attach themselves to executable files that may be part of legitimate programs. If a user attempts to launch an infected program, the virus' code may be executed simultaneously.
Yes, a virus generally attempts to replicate itself and infect other programs and systems.
But I think we are getting to nit picky in our definition here. The main argument is let's implement more viruses....

I kinda see what you're saying, so you hack somebody, attach viruses to their programs, then wait for them to run them and destory their own software I like it ^^ I do not it makes little sense. Basically how a real virus works right now. It embeds itself into an existing file. Once that file executes it then does its magic.

What I do, is I spam all the hours from the first one until I've used up my 15 tries for that server. I then move to the next server grab the first file and do the same.
When I actively playing I was generally left with a few hours left over on each virii, but not much.
Now, well, I can do a few servers with each virii...

Go to your software page....click the '20' or '40' link
See where you can go with those links.
Works fine for me. I click next it shows 40 & 60 go back to first page Click 40 and it shows 40 & 80 Click 40 and it shows 60 & 120 Ok, so the first one works just fine. The 2nd doubles whatever the first one is.

How about something along the lines of you attach a virii to a program. The next time the program is run the virii executes and deducts the virii version from the file version. Active virii would have a fifty/fifty chance per day of having the virii execute.
This type of virii would be very deadly to Password Break, Process Trace and such. It would also give a reason for us to kill processes, so they reload the program again.

I accidentally bought 9999 BW awhile back. Was going to buy memory, but got BW.
I didn't want the bandwidth on that server. I had it all nice and tied up, nobody could download anything.
I swear, within minutes of me buying the bandwidth someone hacked in and started downloading something of that server.
I swear, Alpha does that all the time to me. Complete research, Alpha logs in, buy BW Alpha logs in.
