anyone want to compare gateways? <.>
17  General Category / HP History / Re: Have you been infected with Virii? on: July 22, 2008, 01:50:35 PM
in a way yes, in a way no.

EVERYONE'S ip can be bought and found.

point is, since its a pyrimid type of distribution, it is far easier to buy my ip than it is to buy a newbies because they will have 0.1-0.2 software (of which thousands of people have) and whilst people like me have 1+, and as such are far rarer.

<.>

Perhaps a way to boost your ap's periodically like drugs in pardus...

i used to play pardus, and the ap system there works effectively.
However, i do feel that you cant compare the two as they work on different rules. AS stated by zac, ap was the only limiting factor (money to use on drugs not included) whilst in hacker project you are governed by the process times. In a way, this is already implemented with the fact that delete/disinfects/process'es in general take the exact same amount of time for everyone, which in hindsight is a good move.

I just don't think using ap's to limit people's activities is the right choice...

(p.s i predict two things will come out of this. 1, that those who dont use the forums wil be confused as hell, and b, that people who like the system will poitn and say most of the people here spend too much time on it anyway (aka, top rankers). *sighs*)

look on the bright side:

1. you still get the money
2. its easy to remove! just reformat
3. you're not the only one who has done that i can tell you. (no, i didnt do it)
23  Feedback Terminal / Suggestions / Re: Put CAPs on things on: July 20, 2008, 07:29:27 AM
I like open ended with no caps, but sometimes it is imperative to cap things...  14 but software is good with no cap.

I disagree.   Mainly because of usefulness.  Right now the most useful software in the game is Delete.  Nothing other than Delete.  With Delete you can make yourself untouchable.  Granted IP Change is more powerful and cheaper to use in the short run but still.

Mind you these suggestions would also drastically hurt SGP as a whole.   It would also keep the bell curve more in tune instead of a small group of people pulling far ahead of everyone else.

i wish. Stupid anti-hacker missions and ip buying circumvent that philosophy of stealth =/

or have it replaced with *unknown data corruption*, so the actual ranking is in effect but we dunno who it is
27  Feedback Terminal / Suggestions / Re: research & the human factor on: July 19, 2008, 03:00:16 PM
was referring to this:

however i would think that the more hours you have logged for using a program would make you better with it, and so i would like to see research be quicker of cheaper if you've logged, lets say, an hour of use, then it would take only 30 minutes for that software to be upgraded instead of 1 hour..........

this would mean that since i, for example, could run anywhere from 100x+ more process'es than a newbie using his system i would be far more proficient with it, resulting in me getting an advantage i already have.
28  Feedback Terminal / Suggestions / Re: Put CAPs on things on: July 19, 2008, 01:59:42 PM
hmm. nice ideas, but i do believe a 10% failure chance to utterly render your software unusuable is a bit harsh...
29  General Category / HP History / Re: Have you been infected with Virii? on: July 19, 2008, 06:51:41 AM
except file shares are also easier to be eaten by spyware.
30  Feedback Terminal / Suggestions / Re: research & the human factor on: July 18, 2008, 07:42:37 PM
wont work.

for example, breaking a high elvel password protect can take anywhere from an hour + nowadays, whilst a 0.1 (newbie) hacker needs around 5-10 minutes.

Since i can run parallel breaks through really in-efficent means anyway, that means i would get more experience, despite the fact that in the current system (which said author has problems with) i have the advantage in teh first place.

i love my programs =P
