I'm not mad at you, I just get frustrated when a post (seems to) add nothing to the discussion, especially when it's my topic. Thanks for clarifying though, and you do have a valid point. Yes, if the new owner chose to wipe out all the major corporations, that would only happen once... As far as we know. We still don't know how the corporations will affect our servers once they get hit. Still, some people have said that their reason for not being interested in the account is because they want to "make their own way." This way, everyone would be even again (if the virus actually causes a reset of player servers instead of just corporate) and they really could make their own way, on even footing with every other player.

Also, I've updated the auction again... this time I've added some of the research that is underway on the account

No need to be insulting - I've given a reason in every post I've made. Even though I may not like your idea doesn't mean I'm going to dismiss it, only argue against it and provide reasons why I think it would be a poor idea to implement it, both when regarding the players and the time it takes Sir Emi to code. Simply put, I think Sir Emi's time would have a much bigger impact elsewhere and I don't think that this would make much difference in gameplay to the people who enjoy this game. That and I still see it as imbalancing - here's my final post for this thread, and it's a scenario.

1) This suggestion is implemented
2) Five friends decide they're going to take advantage of this
3) Two of them research the file. Now it can be distributed to everyone in the group without any multiplaying.
4) Every day, each of them makes 5 new accounts
5) Every week, each of these accounts takes over another account.
6) Within two weeks, each of these players now has 70 accounts controlling 35 others, or 175 total
7) In a month, each player has 155 accounts controlling 270 others, or 1350 total.
8) In two months, you don't want to know what it looks like.

You may say this would take too much time, but it really wouldn't. With saved passwords and autofill, not to mention greasemonkey scripts, this could be done in an hour or so daily.

What about groups though? Player A makes 50 accounts and each one takes over another account. His friend, player B is told where all these accounts are, and can take them over at his leisure. Now if there's a group with 6 people... you do the math.

The point is that players can STOP the reset by stopping the virus. This account can stop a lot of virii. Also, if you read what Emi wrote, he said that the virus has the ability to wipe out the CORPORATION servers and that we'll be caught in the middle of it... We still have no idea what that means. Do your research or leave your spam at the door (preferably don't post in this thread at all, since you obviously aren't interested in the account. There's plenty of other threads for you to troll).

Updated the auction with new server stats/features.

Yes, that would make a difference... but since playing multiple accounts (Without limit) is allowed, active players could still take over more, and gradually siphon them to a main account. In any case, when a new server is only 20K hpd and the idea needs this much balancing to just be considerable, why bother? It doesn't really add anything new to the game. Yes, I think we need something to do with inactive accounts other than farm, but I don't think this is it. Keep pushing the idea if you like. I think my views are fairly clear on this one so far.

Well, we don't know exactly what the update will do yet or when it will be released... And hopefully we'll get more details
soon because of the fact that every player (except for one) so far has posted that some kind of reset on the main server is bad, since Emi said there wouldn't be any.

From what I'm reading though, the resets seem like they might be player led (through viruses). If that's the case, then this account could/would be the critical factor in whether it does or does not happen! The owner could either research the virus so high that it can't really be disinfected, or research the antivirus enough to be able to handle any threat that arises. The fun thing is that whoever ends up with the account has the ability to put themself in the hall-of-fame... and they can decide what puts them there  7

Even if this server does get some kind of "reset," the Gold status will stay with the account and that's worth $20. The spreadsheet to track just about everything in game and the strategies I'll pass on should make it well worth at least that, at least in my opinion. We'll see what you guys think though 1

*sigh* and could you please actually read my post? I never called you an idiot. Let me give you another reason why this is still a bad idea: the more powerful the player, the more processes and uploads they can simultaneously run. That means that the more powerful players would take over significantly more lowbie servers than the new players, who would actually be positively affected. Since those servers are now owned by an active player, no one else has the chance to take them over again. Combine that with the fact that the bigger players can afford to buy more IPs, and you have a bad idea on your hand... Just like you did after the first post.

It's still a bad idea that will never be implemented. Even the good suggestions on this board aren't making it onto the task list. Drop it.

I like the idea of the revelation virus 1

Imagine if a group of 10 newbies get thier hands on it, it wil send the top ten players running,

I say bring this virus on :D
A group of 10 newbies wouldn't be able to use it, because you can't pool resources. Any of the top 10 players on the other hand could wipe out those newbies if they wanted to.... say for implying that they'd use it? ;)

As for people whining about us whining... There's a difference between a complaint and a constructive criticism. A complaint is a knee-jerk reaction that one is being treated unfairly, which offers no solution to the issue. A constructive criticism (what most of the experienced players do) says "I think this will be an issue, and here are a few ways I think it could be resolved." If you don't like the way MOST of the people on these forums talk, why don't YOU shove off? 1 Otherwise, feel free to join us in trying to make this a better game. Thank you.

EDIT: fixed some grammar :p

Those in the top 10 have no reason to hassle new players other than cruelty. I personally have more faith in the top10 than that...

The fact that each research costs 30AP should shut down your idea pretty quickly... That, and how many servers do you know that can run 500 research projects simultaneously?
27  HP Info Terminal / News & Updates / Re: Guide update - Revelation Day on: August 22, 2008, 06:55:30 PM
Sir Emi, I don't think anyone objects to this new update... it could be really cool actually. But don't make the mistake of implementing it on the current server after you've promised not to have rounds or resets. Going back on your word like that would set a dangerous precedent that no one wants. You'll lose the faith and trust of every player on this game, and you don't want that. If this is going to be added, ADD it in another server, not on this one.

The viruses I install are over 20 gigs and install in less than a day. Any other questions? The fact is, this is a bad idea. Drop it.

I can upload a 1 gig file in 2 minutes. Any other questions?

(Thanks for an on-topic post)

Really, the account would be useful even for the #2 player. Because the big limiting factor for powerful accounts is AP, having a second (and very powerful) account would be immensely useful in infecting servers, attacking threats, and running high level research. I am interested to see who decides to buy it (or even bid on it)...
