You can upgrade to "Gold Account" from the left menu in the game.
It is a one time payment, not a subscribe, after you upgrade you will be able to use a Secure FTP to upload / backup your most important files. Once you uploaded the files on the Secure FTP, you can download them instantly if they get deleted on your gateway.
You will see how many days you have left on your Gold Account in the "Account options", it will say something like "Your Gold Account has X day(s) remaining." If your remaining days reach 0 or less, you will receive an ingame message informing you the Gold has expired and that you can activate it again with another payment, at witch time you will receive the activation HPD bonus again.
You can also you upgrade / add to your remaining days even before the remaining days reach 0, receiving another 365 days and the bonus each time.
If your Gold expires, your Secure FTP files will be preserved, but you won't be able to access the Secure FTP until you renew your Gold.
You can also upgrade to Gold using the HP partner program:
http://www.hacker-project.com/affiliate/Login with your user / pass and use the "Add Credit" option.
You can then use this credit to upgrade any account ingame to Gold status or send HPD donations to anyone in the game, using the "Convert Credit" option.
