look on the bright side:

1. you still get the money
2. its easy to remove! just reformat
3. you're not the only one who has done that i can tell you. (no, i didnt do it)

Hi,

I have read the posts in this thread and I am still confused (not hard to do).  First, let me say I am one of the newbies who left his IP in all kinds of logs and had to reformat. Lesson learned I hope.  However, I'm still unclear if I am trying to install the Adware Spam Daemon on one of the corporate servers or on just some unsuspecting IP I find in the logs?  Apologies if this is already covered somewhere else.

Thanks,

Fretsky

Either will work, and the dangers are different for each. With a public one, there will likely be a mission to disinfect it, but on a private one, whoever it is can always format or find some way to disinfect themselves.

Fretsky: The ideal location is somewhere that nobody knows about: an inactive server.

Installing it on active servers (That is, player servers with an active player) will result in the player changing IPs and/or AVing it. And, if you aren't lucky, coming back to get you.

Installing on public or secret servers will mean that people try to use Virus Capture to take it, or AV it for a mission.

Thanks for the help! I'll look for those inactive servers.

20 times as much as the corresponding adware, but it takes 50 bandwidth per v.1

also remember that a v.1 file share at 50kbps is equivalent to 60kbps of adware, so in some places it is better to use them since you save 10 kbps...

Yes, but they're also targeted by disinfects and breakers more often, because of the higher payoff. You'll learn when to use each one from experience. Or you won't, and you'll do it at random, like me ;)
