For firewall bypasses and pass breakers.

Could we have the option to set these softwares overload amount when we launch them, instead of having to manually overload them on a pass break screen?

I personally think overloading should be taken out all together

It's balanced because of the larger hardware usage when compared to a equilivent, or even higher, version of the program. So it's not really broken.

I never looked into this, but how are the overload amounts calculated? (The version increases per overload level. I have idea, but I need to know how the amounts are calculated first to make sure that the idea would work.)

how is it balanced? can i overload my firewall protect no. so there is no balance to it, hardware simple to come by, u make money and buy it, takes time to make a firewall, and when u do u have to make sure it 10X the bypass or breaker out there

Having overloadable breakers and bypasses reinforces the pvp aspect of the game.

Basically, it lets the little fish strike at the slightly bigger fish.

Although, I do see your point.

How about limiting how high you could overload the breakers and bypasses? 10x sounds like a good number.

I agree with wolfdoc, we shouldn't be able to overload. Or at least overload differently, but as he stated, you can't overload defences, when you can overload offensive progs.
Gotta find a nice 'way in the middle' :p

I think overloading is completely reasonable. How else are newbs going to be able to crack secret servers halfway through the game?

Besides you get a 33% version increase for a  100% resource increase every level so it is a good trade off.

I agree with GlitchH4xor.

but some question about "33% version increase for a  100% resource increase every level"

say you have v100 and you overload by 2X, will it be v166 or v176.89 (+33% of v133)? ...imma assume it will use resources equivalent for v300 either way?

...maybe add overloading Protects by 1% version for 100% resource? (could make overloading possible for all software...unless they be installed, so only for running software not installed software?)
