361  Feedback Terminal / Suggestions / Re: Changing ip's kills certain process's on: July 28, 2008, 02:14:53 PM
My opinion in this matter is that all noninternal processes are killed when IP is changing. EXEPT for virii. But the virii should have to be restablished by the installer and former owner only. This means that the guy with new IP have to expose it in order to have functional virii.

I disagree as when you go to collect it will be with the new IP anyways.   Spyware will show that new IP and will actually make Spyware useful.

I like that idea, maybe have Spyware collect only the new IP if it is a bit lower than the virii... so if you are at least (Virii Version * .9) then you get to see the collector's IP but fail to intercept the money.  I dunno something to flesh out Spyware and PvP a bit more.

Yeah... having something special for donating (the gold package) makes much more sense than the free money deal.

I've always wondered about the $5 donation thing, so if I donate $5 I get 5 * 525 = 2625 HPD plus an extra 3 * 525 = 1575 for a total of 4200 HPD?

The bonus is a little extreme.

Araeus, you're supposed to do mine first.

But since it's there, my guess:

(13,19), (17,23), (23,29).

Primes separated by 6.

Sexy primes

Yeah... primes numbers seperated by six... chosen mostly for the name.
364  HP Info Terminal / News & Updates / Re: downloads manager improved on: July 25, 2008, 09:42:28 AM
Right now I've noticed that what it is doing is setting your total bw usage to the % specified in the dynamic distribution drop down... not the file you chose...

So if I already have 50% bw going and I want the next file to take up another 10%, I would have to enter 60% for the distribution rather than 10%...
365  General Category / HP History / Re: SGP Announcement on: July 24, 2008, 04:24:24 PM
Quick question... if we... if my friend were to happen to... hypothetically speaking... to run across a server that may or may not be technically claimed by SGP based on the first two numbers... but then it's totally empty of processes and virii... what should I... I mean my friend... hypothetically wanting to upload virii to this server... do.

Edit: But seriously, what's the protocol on this... I just don't want my server wiped out because I found an "empty" server and put some virii there, encroaching on the "claim"

Ah.

/facepalm

I think the AV ap cost should scale with the virus level just like the install does, it only makes sense that it should be more work to uninstall a virus that took more work to install.

Ah you don't want that.  Just simply find a server you like.  Install 5 Virii on it.  Start disinfect on all 5.  Locate the missions for the 80% thing and kill the disinfect on the ones without missions.

Boom you have a win win scenario.   Why do you think SGP is no longer putting up gobs of Virii?  We are disinfecting them ourselves!

Heh... too much work... how do you go through all those secret servers to find the missions for your own virus?
368  HP Info Terminal / F.A.Q. / Re: Mutliple password cracks? on: July 24, 2008, 02:12:25 PM
So I have a .3 cracker and a .112 cracker... my .3 is running on a server and I'm trying to run my .112 on a different server and it keeps loading up my .3 when I try to crack admin on the second server...  confused2

Can newbie servers be excluded from the IP buying list?  I just bought a new set of IPs to put virii on and now I'm wondering how many of them are going to still be under newbie protection...
371  HP Info Terminal / News & Updates / Re: Newbie protection on: July 24, 2008, 09:20:29 AM
Heh I just tried to upload a virus to an apparently inactive player and got the message "this player is under newbie protection"

Awesome, at least I know it's working... now to wait...

On another note, the only process that has been running on his server is "delete file #79266 Basic Password Protect V 0.106 [localhost] -> task complete" which has been there since the first time I logged in...
372  Feedback Terminal / Suggestions / Re: purchased software should get cheaper on: July 24, 2008, 01:03:55 AM
I don't think rank means that much Noseedam, I'm top thirty and I started like last week...

I think that the software prices are pretty good the way they are.  As it stands you would only buy software if you have tons of money anyway... making the newer players go searching for their improved software makes for a bit more interesting game.  I know when I am sneaking around secret servers and I run across a log deleter or a password cracker that is a few researches worth higher than the one I already have, especially when it is many researches more than the one I already have, that is a pretty good feeling of accomplishment (especially when I can get it downloaded before someone deletes it)
373  HP Info Terminal / News & Updates / Re: some AP cost changes on: July 23, 2008, 05:04:12 PM
I'm new(er), and even though I've been uploading tons of viruses and doing tons of missions every day and I have yet to drop my AP below 2800...
374  Feedback Terminal / Suggestions / Re: Newbie Protection on: July 23, 2008, 05:01:47 PM
Master Shake has a good point.  I think that if they are being protected, they should not be able to initiate some sort of hostile action against other people while they are protected.  With 5 bw it may take a while, but you can just upload adwares and be untouchable to everyone else, but those would be outside of your protection so I'm not worried about that.

Just how high of an AV could you run under 1100 CPU?  How high of a breaker?  These are the major problems.  If they want to try and hack into another player's server and upload an adware more power to them to try... but they will probably be traced and someone will be sitting there waiting for their protection to end...

That sounds like it should work.
