Ajax the interface, so that things like "log modification", "refreshing the active list", or "completing a mission" don't force a reload of the whole page.

Make an RSS feed for logs.  It would cut down on the number of people who click logs every 20 seconds, while providing them the validation they need.

I can try and help with these,  but I understand they are LOW priority

Not really necessary + basic HTML allows for more access options (i.e. phone or old PC).
