Here is the fastest way to complete the "Delete File" mission:
- Access the target, start the delete file process.
- Hack something else while the process is running
- Monitor your gateway delete process and when completed
- connect to the target IP in green in the process
- Access Running Software on the target
- Look for the file # corresponding to your gateway IP (there may be more hackers with task complete on the same file, ignore that and click complete on your task)
- Pay attention if it says it deleted the file, or better yet check the remote logs. It may say the file is not there, if that is the case then you were too late, someone else got it first.
- File deleted, access "Mission data". Search for file # you just deleted, you can use the browser search function
- Note the mission details, it should say in red: "File Deleted"
- Complete the mission and get the reward
Other tips:
Try to get a mission with a low reward at first, e.g. delete a Log Deleter for example, it may be better in learning how to complete the higher reward ones because it takes only a couple of minutes to delete a lower size file as opposed to a big file that could take hours.
The time may seem like a lot to wait in the beginning but once you upgrade your CPU and you make like 10-15 missions at a time, you'll find yourself completing jobs faster then you can start them.
What you need to do is check the Bulletin boards on those public servers, and only take the 5 - 15 HPD missions, 5 at a time in the beginning. Don't worry about being traced in the beginning, they can't really damage you because if they do you can format and get all the basic software back.
So once you got a few hundred HPD, just invest those in CPU until you get like 1500 CPU and do lots of missions like that. When you have enough HPD invest in some viruses and other cool stuff and you should be fine
