Mapping IP without connecting/bouncing with it

The title explains pretty much what I suggest.
Sometimes I see an IP in the logs which I dont have and I want to map it but in order to do so I must break my current connection/bounce chain even though I might not be complete with what I intend to do.

What I would do is note the IP in a file until my connection is free, you can even use the ping first to make sure it's there, or better yet run a scanner on it... I'll note it down for future updates tough.

Ok. I allready knew about pinging (what else could you use it for?).

I use notepad. I have a text document permanently open, with IPs, Sniffer Daemon logs, and whatever other sources of IPs I get.

Using a notepad works well, I use it too, but I like AD's suggestion.

A little button named 'ADD TO DB' next to PING / BOUNCE / CONNECT would be very helpfull.

I was more thinking of a field and a button in the IP database tab but thats better.

It would be better if pinging a IP automatically adds it to the IP DB when it shows it is a existing server. As it doesn't crowd HP with unnessesary buttons, it will also make Ping a more used feature.

What do you mean with "Successfull Connects"?

The point with this suggestion is that you do not need to connect and add the IP, but simply ping it.

Example, pinging the IP found in a server log would look like:

 Reply from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx: bytes=32 time=30ms

 IP added to database.

Could also show "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx added to IP database", depending which is more user friendly.

While pinging a non-existing IP would show the default:

I understand what expand means, I just do not see where "Successful Connects" would need to be placed.

Instead of wasting time googleing it in a dictionary you might want to read the post, specifically the part where it states:

I think its pretty clear. The IP maps at a successful connection. I cant explain it much better but Ill try. You paste the IP in to the field and when you press connect and the IP is real it maps automatically.

Highlighted part is meant as "Successful Connection", at least how Arthur explains it.

Either way, we all have the same idea.
